Amazing...Good Ball Player....the numbers were great and his team made the playoffs.

You can add MVP to his resume as well
I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can't accept not trying.

curtis granderson could've given him the ultimate gallo-block, but decided to leave the game.

On Wednesday night, Cabrera, whose father was a professional baseball player in Venezuela and whose mother was the star shortstop for that country’s national softball team, found his way into the history books of America’s national pastime as the first player in nearly half a century to win the triple crown, leading the American League in home runs (44), batting average (.330) and runs batted in (139).

Not bad.

this was probably the strangest season in MLB history

did not expect BOS and MIA to suck so bad, especially with their new managers and players

Mets first no hitter ever and a 20 game winner/almost pitching triple crown winner RA Dickey in an abysmal season

Triple crown winner Miguel Cabrera

Bargain basement no name Oakland A's winning the west over the elite Texas Rangers on the final day of the season

Like a million no hitters and perfect games thrown

2 100 game losing teams and no 100 game winners

Washington Nationals end up with the best record after years of garbage

2 retreads in Showalter and Davey Johnson turn their franchises around

Caught Steroid user winning the batting crown in the NL LOL

naa miggy finished with 44, curtis hit his 43rd in the 7th.. even if he goes deep again and ties him at 44, miggy still wins the triple crown even with the tie

Still would vote Mike Trout for MVP. One stolen base shy of the first ever 320 BA/30 Hr/50SB/125 run season and he only played in the bigs since May. His WAR is 10.3 and with another 20 games that he spent in the minors he MIGHT have posted the very first 35 or 40HR/50SB season ever.

Statistically Cabrera had an awesome season, unquestioned but his WAR is only 7.3 and not that much different from his 2010 season.

Trout had a better record in a harder division. He played less games by far and as a rookie posted a better year.

Any other year, Cabrera is MVP. IMO not this one.

The year started off with Matt Kemp hanging around triple crown territory and then Cabrera pulls it off.

I couldn't care what the rookie did, when you actually hit for the MLB Triple Crown? You're the leagues MVP. No question about it. His team also made the postseason? It's history.

You do realize that the Triple Crown is not an actual award right? Its actually no better then Cabrera 2010 season for which he did not win MVP. Trout's season is unprecedented and his WAR is 10.4 or 2.4 Games better then anyone else in baseball. Not only should he be the AL MVP, his year was so good they shouldnt even give an NL MVP just out of respect to how good it was.

Miguel Cabrera's always had triple crown ability. He's a career .318 hitter (including .344 last season and .339 in 2006) which is probably the hardest one of the three triple crown categories to capture. Power and run producting ability has always been there as well. His problem has been a combination of conditioning and attitude (which had cast such a negative light on him in the past that there was a time when teams really didn't want him enough to part of much). I do agree with you on the rest though.

You do realize that WAR is a non standardized stat, and the 3 main sites that calculate it all have different ways of doing so?

There is no award for winning all 4 Grand Slams in tennis, but it's still impressive to do so, right?
There is no award for winning all 3 major horse racing races, but if a horse does he is declared a Triple Crown winner.

Barry Bonds slugging .863 in 2001 was way more impressive than what Trout did.
