The Magic expect Turkoglu to provide leadership and ball-handling.

But Turk might have somebody nipping at his heels this season.

The buzz around the Magic is how impressed everyone is with rookie Maurice Harkless.

Harkless has been limited by an offseason surgery for a sports hernia and isn’t expected to return until mid-November to officially begin his pro career in the regular season. But coaches have liked what they have seen so far from the athletic, 19-year-old who played at St. John’s.

Harkless, 6-8, 210 pounds, is a small forward who arrived from the Philadelphia 76ers in the Magic’s trade of Dwight Howard.

The Sixers sent Harkless, their first-round pick, to the Magic as part of the meg deal that netted them Andrew Bynum from the Lakers.

If Harkless merits playing time, this is the perfect scenario for the Magic to work on the player development aspect. Harkless would share time with Turk, maybe even inherit the starting job at some point.

This is from 2 days ago, I dont think anyone posted it. Good to see that Harkless is doing well, well enough to impress the team despite his injury.

How are the guys doing?

Come on reporters get on it!

Watch videos of coach, Jameer, Afflalo, Davis, Moore, & KO after this weeks' practices. I personally think today had the best interviews because coach & Jameer gave praises to some of the players.

I got to say man i just like listening to Coach Jacque speak about the team and what we want to do.....you can hear the confidence in his voice.....for me he can talk the talk.....so let's see if he walk the walk Sunday....love to see what kind of style we have.....if it's a uptempo offense then i'll be a happy camper....if we play hard defensively then i'll be content even if we're losing games.....

Yeah, Vaughn is so refreshing compared to that crap that was here before him. This is EXACTLY the type of leader that the Magic need. I hope he's here for a LONG time.

It kind of starts and ends with Shabazz and it's not like he'll be a franchise player off the bat. Beyond maybe the top 1 or 2 picks, we're looking at hopefully finding decent role players.

2014 is where it's at.

There's still a whole season for a few Durant/Irving/Roy style players to emerge. Just because there's no clear cut stars now doesn't mean there won't be some by the end of the season. And just because Shabazz is favored as the #1 now doesn't mean he won't be following PJ3 and Sullinger to becoming a late 1st round pick.

I don't have the link, but I read an article the other day with quotes from Ayon himself saying he was going to play out the season in Orlando and at season's end, evaluate his future in the NBA and if he decided to leave, he'd go to Spain. I wonder if this is simply a jump on the assumption based off of them buying his rights that they plan to bring him over now, when they might not have specified this year, and want him next year.

Sooo. Can Barcelona buy out Ayon's contract from the Magic thus reducing the Salary Cap or make Devos some money?

I got an even better idea, trade Ayon for Fran Vasquez?!?!?!

Ayon (cont'd): "...For right now, I'm with Orlando and I think I'll be here this year and many more to come. ..."

I highly doubt we'll let him leave us this year.

Josh Robbins ‏@JoshuaBRobbins
Yesterday, I asked Gustavo Ayon whether he wanted to remain in the NBA. His answer: "It doesn't depend on me. ..."
Ayon (cont'd): "It depends on the opportunities that I have in basketball. At that time I'll see if I have any other options. ..."
Ayon (cont'd): ". . . But after this year it's not my decision."

You forgot the important part.

I honestly wouldn't be upset if we decided to let him go. The guy is 27 & is what he is. Most likely will not improve.

Let the youngsters Vucevic & OQuinn play.

Don't really know what to think bout all this. Wanna see how he does, but i'm more excited bout O'Quinn&Vucevic tbh

He obviously learned form Dwight on how to respond to these kinds of questions.

I cannot recall anything in the CBA that specifically prohibits trades to a non-affiliated league; but I am sure this would require league approval.
