Sixer fan here.... What do you guys project Hibberts stats to be? I was looking around and there is not much talk of this or even plain basketball talk about him.. Do you think he can improve a lot this year? Evertytime I saw him play I was impressed. You guys have so many scoring options, should he see more post plays i.y.e.?
I came here because I drafted him in a a fantasy league, but I also some just as a basketball guy,
Any training camp news stuff about him?

I would expect similar numbers to last season with maybe a slight increase across the board as Vogel has said he plans to go with a little more of a starter heavy rotation this year.

Is roughly what im expecting from him.

He can still improve alot, his assertiveness is probably the biggest thing I would like to see him improve.

Post plays are definitely the strength of this team and if you watched us against Miami it was our biggest advantage so that's definitely something we want to see more of over here.

I got him in my fantasy league too, he can pass, shoot FT's has a high Fg% and gets a ton of rebounds and blocks which are super key in fantasy.

No real news, he is our most outspoken player for sure so he talks alot, but no real news.

I cant wait for him and Bynum to go at it, I expect them to be 1-2 in All-star voting and hopefully dominate the East upfront.

Good luck to your sixers man, I hope you destroy the Celtics this year.

Well i expect Hibbert to average double doubles this upcoming season. He's ever improving and I think 14ppg and 10rpg are quite realistic. But I expect his assists numbers to go up, since he's a good passer from the post, and he'll be getting more post-up plays.

He is a good player. He can dominate at times, and those times are more frequent every year. However, he is still a bit off at times. Physically he is a monster. Long, tall, soft hands, good range, nice touch, good shot bloacker...al that good stuff, but still looks clumsy for long stretches of games.

His upside for Fantasy:
Bloacked shots: 2+/g
Free throw%: 80%
Double Double average in points and Rebounds (15/11)
Solid passer: 2 asst/g

The down side isn't Hibbert, it is the Pacers. We runa 10 man rotation and no player get the 38-40minute average that you see with guys like LeBrown/Howard/Rose...

He is a top 5 center, likely the best in the East this year.

I'm not going to give specific stats, but I wouldn't expect a huge boom in performance unless the Pacers make a concious effort to get him more involved in the offense. He was non existent in the playoffs at times in the offense, and that really hurt us in the series against the Heat, when no one could guard him.

A big part of that was our inability as a team to physically get him the ball when we needed to. I'm giving Vogel a pass for now, but he finally has a training camp, it needs not to be such a problem next season, because Roy is one of the best low post guys in the league when he gets the ball in the right spots.

None the less 12.3 ppg 11.5 rpg 2.5 bpg in the Miami series in just 32.5 ppg is rock solid, especially on the glass and protecting the rim. He'll thrive offensively next season as long as Vogel has contingencies to get the ball to him when other teams front aggressively or apply ball pressure to the point. Our offense was too simple at times last year and often opposing teams could take away our first option, and lacking a contingency we would try to force it through anyways, leading to turnovers and broken plays. I have faith in Frank though, i'm sure he sees the problem and will adjust, it isn't like he had much time last season to implement everything he would like.

I'd say that a 15/10 with 2.3 blocks or thare about, not Shaq or Kareem but in this era of centers I'll take it.

I'm in agreement here. His size and strength put him at a superior level. I'm anxious to see if his clumsiness improves and he can smooth out his game this season.

I just saw THIS on the front page. Previously, I would have guessed that Roy would make a couple more all-star games just due to his position, but this lowers his odds considerably. I still think that if the Pacers have more team success he's the mostly likely to get rewarded and is also the kind of guy that I think the coaches like to vote in. Over/under 1.5 future all star appearances for Roy?

He's young, and big men can take a while to develop at C. So I'd expect some improvement as he enters peak.

Yeah, he's playing a lot further from the basket than he's comfortable with which is a huge concern, hopefully this is just a temporary "start to the season rust" type of thing, but it's not making me comfortable.

There's just not enough flow on the offensive end passing wise and he looks rather cramped for space on the block.

I'm sure Vogel will be thinking about ways to free up space for him.

I will put this question out there... did the Pacers screw up by overpaying for Roy Hibbert?

Peter Vecsey and Bill Simmons believe so.

Couldn't agree more. Hibbert's impact is less seen in numbers than just pure influence on the offense. Right now he's averaging fewer shots per game than Hill, George, West, and about the same amount of attempts as Gerald Green. That's unacceptable if this team wants to stay as competitive as they were last season.

I like how 72% of his shots are coming in the paint, but the volume needs to increase.

I do think to see how defenses focus on him a lot more than in the past with double and triple teaming because they know from last year a lot of our offense starts with Hibbert. The most interesting part is not how much he struggles when they do that, but how much he can adapt to it.

Same case with George. Granger isn't there anymore to draw the best perimeter defenders.
He is going to struggle but the question is for how long.
Only time will tell.
