The no flopping policy concerns me a bit. To some degree, players need to flop in order to draw a charge and actually get the call. If you don't fall down while taking a charge, you'll never get the whistle. It's a pretty fuzzy line between what is acceptable and what is egregious.

I think they should just ban phantom contract flopping where there is no actual contact whatsoever, or the contact is so insignificant that it couldn't possibly have resulted in the player falling down.

retroactive fines would work better than on-the-spot calls imo. like nate said, with the subjective nature of the call and that the benefit of the doubt almost always goes to the offensive player especially in today's guard-friendly league, this would make an already difficult call damn near impossible. just, if it gets caught on film, fine the player retroactively.

That is what they are doing. Games will be reviewed on film for the fines.

The last one in the series of what is a flop should be allowed. That is a charge. If they don't want flops on that kind of play, they need to stop players from dropping their shoulder into a defenders chest who is standing their ground and have well established position. The offensive player should be forced to make a basketball move around or backward from them. They shouldn't be able to just pound right into the defenders chest with their shoulder. Its basketball, not Somo wrestling.
