I'm excited to watch that interview (I save it for work). I feel like I'm going to be depressed about it, though. Seems like Mayhem is coming apart at the seams.

he's just gone through a lot, having been literally beaten out of the sport.

by the looks of his bodyfat, he hasn't been training or keeping-up.

he is an **** without much empathy (judging by his Rogan podcasts) and enjoys the exploitation of others, so I'm not panged, really.

As a fan of Jason, I am very concerned for this guy.

I think he took people talking trash about his fighting game really hard.

Someone needs to step in and help him, because these are signals, and serious ones, that are cries for help.

CBR, he is not an a-hole, that just is not true.

Matt Hughes, now there's an a-hole.

No, he's definitely an ahole. Listen to how much he loves like Faces Of Death-type stories and video. And how little concern he has for the well-being of others.

Matt Hughes and he are both a-holes, just of two different types. Matt Hughes is ruled by a need to dominate and control and belittle, Mayhem is amazingly free of that (he never fights back on Bully Beatdown, for example). A huge credit to him. But he could not seem to care less about the suffering of others. Again, listen to the two Rogan podcasts he's done. He's laughing at animals dying in terrible ways and at human oppression, he's a cackling frat boy.

He's either on the verge of self-destruction or he's doing his best Joaquin Phoenix to get people talking about the movie. I'm going with the latter (or both). Unfortunately Joaquin Phoenix is an Oscar-nominated actor and Mayhem is the former host of Bully Beatdown, so...

Reading his tweets from after the show, I'm now not sure what the deal is.

All I know is that someone finally out-foxed Nick Diaz in a crazyiness battle.

Really didn't like him making Ariel flinch like that, not coo.

Wow.

Edit: Just remembered this.

If this is a troll job, and Helwani is in on this, that is really, really lame.

That video was really hard to watch. Not because my heart is breaking for Mayhem or anything, but just because it wasn't funny at all, and I felt bad for Helwani having to interact with someone doing that.

Manny...ruh roh.

Some interesting quotes from Bautista about his fight...

"I think Stephan Bonnar is going to be a little disappointed," he said. "He called me, and the two things he said was, 'Keep your hands up and your chin down.' And I did neither of those things. I think I was so nervous. ... I was terrified walking out there."

"My head coach, Josh Rafferty, said, 'We're all so proud of you, you went through a two-month camp, you never bitched, you never complained, you showed up for every practice, you never asked for a practice off, you never asked for a round off, and you gave everything you have,'" he said. "And that meant more to me than getting my hand raised tonight."

So what does he hope to get out of it?

"Nothing," he said. "I do it because I love it. I have no ulterior motives.

"I think it's obvious after tonight that I won't be a world champion."

I like his attitude, his head seems to be in the right place so hopefully he continues.

Mayhem is entertaining. This Mayhem is clearly not in a healthy mental state.

Incomprehensible. Adam Carolla is forever making fun of North Hollywood's education system...evidently with good reason.

Same here. I much more like hearing about a guy like Bautista than an idiot like Mayhem.

cbr are there any clips of what you're talking about? In regards to comments he's made on Rogan's podcasts. From interviews, Bully Beatdown, TUF etc Mayhem has always seemed like a good guy to me. Mental health disorders are powerful in their destructiveness, so I do feel for him in that sense. It's still no excuse for acting the way he did but his head is clearly not in a good place.

Also from the MMA Hour for anyone interested

Damarques Johnson cut by UFC.

I am a bit confused by this?

He took the fight on 8 days, tried to make 170, and fought a tough prospect at catchweight.

He was asked to take the fight while coming into Vegas to corner a fighter.

This is not cool.

I like to watch this guy fight, and he cut them a break. And then they cut him?

Dana was apparently pissed that he said he could make 170 and then he didn't.
