Re-Picking the 2011 draft? Do you pick Kanter #3 again?

Post#1 » by Hoops Addict » Sat Sep 29, 2012 6:46 pm

Do you pick Kanter again at #3?
1. Looking at all the players now, who do you pick? ( this would be impossible to do, just if you have the benefit of hindsight and a brand new choice.
2. Picking as if it wasdraft day again, knowing what Kanter is now.....and NOT knowing what the other players have become.

http://nbadraft.net/nba_final_draft/2011

1. Looking back, I ike Kanter to a degree, but think about Jonas Valanciunas and how good he can be. He is young, talented,......did not impress me in the Olympics, is longer...ould oe he becomes a v ery goo defender.
Brandon night was very good...and K Leonard were very good...but would want to get something better at the 3rd pick. Faried is really good too.

I would trade the pick and move down to get K Leonard and another asset, ( a top 7 pck).

2. Knowing what Kanter is now, and not knowing about all the other players.

Looking back I would pick Kanter again, but if after the end of the year he does not improve a lot I would have preferred to get J Val or Leonard.

=============================================================================================

Kanter better improve a lot or I will be pissed. I expect he will get better to a degree. Our info is incomplete.

other than irving everyone else at the time was a project. I wanted the jazz to trade down and pick biyombo, klay , night or walker. Doesnt really matter cause all would still be the same as kanter , a long term project.

Don't know yet. You must put the pick in context. Saying they should have taken a guy at the bottom of the 1st round isn't fair. None of the realistic alternative picks are so far ahead that it's a given at this point it was the wrong pick. All we know is Kanter didn't burst on the scene with a finished product. Maybe that finished product will be great maybe it won't. Either Kanter or Favors must become an all-star though.

Yes Kanter and Burks were good picks I would keep them at their current picks but their development maybe hampered by Corbin's who is too afraid of playing the young guys which might cost the team a few wins inexchange for experience which Corbin fears could cost him his job.

I think the only other decent option is Valanciunas. Knight is not going to be a star, I think that's fairly obvious. Leonhard is a great option, but we'd trade Burks for him first. Biyombo is still intriguing, but much less so with Favors on board. No, Kanter is the man. I felt at the time of the draft that if you couldn't get Irving, then Kanter was the man, and I still feel the same today. I think his first year was incredibly positive, and that over the next two seasons we'll unearth the offensive potential that makes him a potential stud. If he can gain confidence in his jumpshot again, he'll be a real weapon. At worst, though, he is a rich man's Zaza Pachulia. And while that isn't worth the #3 pick in most drafts, that's still a solid starter.

Just for his tweets, you have to say "Yes!"

I think after the GS game today, no one will be second guessing the Kanter pick. AJ plays limited minutes and Kanter plays alot, because it is preseason and he dominates.

Looks like the slimmed down Enes Kanter will be a totally different player.

If he refines his offensive game and stays in great shape, he'll be a killer at the PF position.

I love how quickly people jumped to conclusions on him. Kanter could very well come out the best player in this draft; watching him develop is going to be a fun process.

If one season is too short to jump to conclusions, what do we call it when it takes one preseason game?

But I am glad he played well. Great rebounding numbers.
In '03-'04, Jerry Sloan coached the ESPN predicted "worst team of all time" to 42-40.

Oh, it's going to be a while before we see what we've got, I was just frustrated last year by the premature (extremely) bust label.

Right on. I wish I could see how his weight change affected his game. I wonder if he can rebound out of his area now.

I understand Kanter will be good in the future but the Warrior game should not be a good indicator to show if he is good or not. The only centers we had were a rookie(his 2nd NBA game) and a third string center in Biedrens. Kanter did not have that much competition and thus it is expected for him to have a good game.

Are you insane? "and thus it is expected for him to have a good game." You are trying to tell me before the game you expected Kanter to have 12 points, 11 rebounds, 2 blocks and 1 assists in 24 minutes, because GS has a rook center?

Kanter is a beast and I dont care if that was Shaq out there, Kanter has game. Also realize that I posted that before the game. So it was not the game itself why I said that. I was just trying to express after the game, I felt Kanter would put together a good enough game we would realize he was a good pick at 3. Ummm, he was much better than I thought he would be. Guess it was that rook center.

The answer to the question is yes. Kanter is the real deal. Once Al Jefferson gets out, or Millsap leaves, and Jefferson slips to PF, Kanter is going to blow up. This year I don't expect Kanter to get more than 20-24 minutes, unless some goes out with injuries. You basically can't pull up Kanter's minutes without putting a big dent on Jefferson's. This is also Al Jefferson's contract year, so I expect him to have a great season.

The only guy I might consider drafting ahead of him is Irving.
