Game #-6: Wolves at Pacers, 6 PM (Indianapolis, IN)

Post#1 » by Klomp » Fri Oct 12, 2012 3:31 pm

The Timberwolves started its preseason schedule on a good note with Wednesday night’s 84-70 victory over the Indiana Pacers in Fargo, N.D. A nearly sold out Fargodome crowd cheered on as a well-rounded Minnesota squad claimed the lead early and held on through the whole contest.

”It was pretty good, but there are still a lot of areas we need to concentrate on,” coach Rick Adelman said Thursday after practice. “[The Pacers] were missing a lot of their key people. I think the intent was there, and if we keep doing that, we’ll be alright.”

Minnesota will keep its sights on the same opponent, as the Timberwolves travel to Indianapolis on Friday to face off against the Pacers for the second time in three days. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

When asked what his team will do differently this time, Adelman kept it simple.

“We’ll try to do things a little bit better on both ends of the court,” he said.

Injury Update
Danny Granger won't play and will rest his sore left knee. George Hill is questionable with a sore thumb.

Injury Report

At practice on Thursday, coach Adelman said that Luke Ridnour will probably make the trip to Indiana. Whether he plays or not remains to be seen--JJ Barea got the start on Wednesday. Malcolm Lee will not make the trip and will stay behind to receive treatment.

The Pacers sat forward Danny Granger (knee) and guard George Hill (thumb) on Wednesday, and it is uncertain if either will play in tonight's game. Gerald Green and DJ Augustin, respectively, started in their places. Forward David West also sat during Wednesday's matchup, reportedly to give more playing time to Tyler Hansbrough and Jeff Pendergraph. He is expected to play tonight.

“@JerryZgoda: Luke will not play tonight in Indiana. He says back is better but decided to wait and see if he can play tomorrow vs Bulls at TArget Center”

“@JerryZgoda: New Wolf Lou Amundson smiled when I asked if he contributed to contentious Wolves-Pacers games last season. "Of course I did," he said.”

It just dawned on me that the WNBA Finals is Minnesota/Indiana. So we'll have Minnesota/Indiana basketball games 4 times in 7 days.

Timberwolves PR ‏@Twolves_PR

#Twolves coach Rick Adelman said Roy will only play in 1st Q tnite. Wants to have him play at home tomorrow night.

Jerry Zgoda ‏@JerryZgoda

Adelman said DWill played just 13 mins Wed b/c he still prefers to play him at PF and he wanted time for KLove, Amundson and Cunningham

Jerry Zgoda ‏@JerryZgoda

Adelman said DWill's mere 4 mins in Wed's 2nd half wasn't due to his 3-pt hoisting, but he did say he wants more balanced shot selection

Jerry Zgoda ‏@JerryZgoda

Adelman says DWilliams will play "a lot" tonight and that includes a starter's spot at SF apparently.

Timberwolves PR ‏@Twolves_PR

#Twolves starters: DWill, KLove, Pek, BRoy, JJ. Pacers counter with GGreen, West, Mahinmi, George, Augustin.

I'm glad Adelman is saving Roy for the home game Saturday. Looking out for us fans.
