2014 FIFA World Cup Qualification

Post#1 » by LittleOzzy » Wed Dec 21, 2011 6:05 pm

The group winners will qualify directly for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Among the nine group runners-up, the eight best runners-up (determined by records against the first-, third-, fourth- and fifth-placed teams only for balance between different groups) will advance to the play-offs, where they will be drawn into four home-and-away ties to determine the other four qualifiers.

Ireland scores in the 89th and 90th minute to beat Kazakhstan 2-1.

Must hunt down the replay.

Germany - Faroer: Götze scores the 1-0 (28.) after a fine dribbling.

Edit: German reporter: "In the Euro 2012, Götze's only game was vs ARGENTINA."

Bela Rethy.

If I'll ever have insomnia I know how to cure myself. Just need to listen to a tape of Bela Rethy commentating. His voice is so monotonous and even worse he's talking bullsh*t all game long. Should work better than counting sheep. It took 5 minutes today until I fell asleep.

Apparently Kazakhstan missed quite a few chances to put the Irish away. Crazy comeback, though the penalty helped get it going.

AUT - GER is 1-2 after an hour. Weird game - Austria is better but we score the goals.

There are times that Schmelzer is the worst leftback in the history of Western civilization. Holy smoke, he SUCKS!!!

Man, Austria just missed an OPEN chance. But Arnautovic refuses to score from 0.5 metres :D

Germany laughably wins 2-1 vs Austria. Our team sucked from start to finish, we scored on a superb solo and a soft penalty kick, and Arnautovic somehow misfired from point blank. But in the end, only the W counts. Also, how Schmelzer manages to start at LB is beyond me.

Play bad and win, hey - isn't that a German quality? :D

yeah that's German quality...
we've won 16 of our last 17 official matches (thx Italy) and we weren't convincing in like 50% of those games. but regarding this special matchup: Austrian home match vs Germany is the game of the year for them, for us it's not special. we'll be better in other matchups, they'll be worse. we'll finish 1st, they will struggle to qualify for the WC.
but i have a lot of respect for their development, some good players, overall quality is okay, and with Koller they have a "modern" manager who knows how to spell "pressing". would be great to see them in a big tournament again.

I don't know how the f... we won this game but I'll take it.

And yes Schmelzer is garbage. Boateng or even Badstuber are better options as wing backs.

Germany 6-1 vs Ireland, some brilliant football there.
4 brilliant goals by Reus, Klose and 2x Kroos.

Austria only 0-0 in Kazakhstan, disappointing after their good performance vs Germany.

Sweden a lil bit lucky at the Faroers - 2:1 after being down 0:1.

Eh, Schmelzer had a good game, and I think he can be NT caliber, but most of his performances for the NT have been crap, his best match before this one was the friendly defeat to Argentina where we went to ten men in the first half hour. So I get the skepticism, especially since Schmelzer's good game came in a match where we were thoroughly outclassing the opposition.

This statement might've been a bit harsh. I must've been drunk writing this. :D
Should not refer to a human as garbage.

I stand to my point, though. Schmelzer is not a good left back. A good game against Ireland of all teams is not able to distort that opinion. :dontknow:

I don't think I have ever seen him play fantastic for Dortmund.

Whenever he does have a good opponent he struggles.
Dortmund's right wing back, Lukasz Piszczek is fantastic but not Schmelzer.
