Can't complain too much about that first quarter. Other than the mere fact that Outlaw is starting, I guess.

Still ridiculously early, but I'm liking the way Thornton looks off the bench so far. He gets to be that main scoring option and he's taking his opportunities. Especially good playing with passers like Chuck and T-Rob.

I'm liking how guys are buying into the whole "pass-first" mentality. This really opens up the game for them.

This team has a lot of offensive weapons. Hopefully they play some decent defense this year.

Amazing what happens when you put the right guys in to spread the floor!

Dare I say I saw some nice pick and roll too.

Yep.

To be honest, I was skeptical about the JJ acquisition at first because Petrie did not go out and get a 3PT SF FA last summer i.e. Wright. And I thought JJ was going to provide minimal impact (even though an upgrade given our current SF crop). But boy I was wrong.

JJ can really be our best SF since Artest.

Also, our defensive rebounding throughout the game was just DIRE.

So is our switching to 3pt shooters.

But i'll take the positives in the ball movement and hustle/movement on defense any day.

Easily the best, but, fit is still fit and if they plod teams that can't spread the floor out there, or teams that shoot the way this team did in the first preseason game they are going to find it difficult. Cousins new found love for the jumper will actually become imperative. Then again, when you put JJ at PF you all of a sudden become quite dangerous because he'll be a decent floor spreader at PF. James Johnson is a very skilled player and in some ways similar to Artest. He's kind of developed himself into a Shawn Marion/Josh Smith hybrid type.

That's one major negative when you rely on help defense as much as this team does. The positive is they are at least looking somewhat competent when switching. Even Jason Thompson has looked better. That was/is easily his biggest downfall as a defender and with his foot speed he should be an awesome position help defender, no excuses.
