That's pretty much how I see it. I think Jones has shown more potential and better play than all of those guys, but I hope the Magic swallow Q's deal and let Jones on.

Is Eyenga this bad?

As for McRob, i think our GM will try to trade him down the road (3M expiring) and then sign Jones. We could let him playing for our NBDL team for now. Q would be the same case as McRob.

Not sure about eyenga tbh. Looks ok defensively but lacks an offensive game.

Jones>

We need exciting in a year full of losing.

Wouldn't mind being down 20 and seeing a roster of
Smith/Moore
Jones
Harkless
Nich
Gooooose

At least it would be fun to watch

Losing by thirty just about every night would not be fun to watch.

Cut Q, keep Jones and McBob.

Trade McBob down the line.

QRich is on a cheap contract. He can still be traded for a 2nd round pick or an expiring. I doubt Henny would consider cutting Harrington, Hedo and Q so he can pay on (4) Contracts (including Areanas) totaling over $30 million for the next year or two. That is crazy talk.

There is no way QRich is getting cut.

Q is owed $5.4M over the next 2 seasons (no way he walks away from the PO next year), whilst McBob is owed $3.1M this year. Keeping McBob over Q would mean you'd be confident you could find $2.3M more worth of value in a return for Josh than you could for Q. That comes down to how highly you value draft picks, IMO. There's not a chance Q lands a 2nd round pick, or anywhere close to the value that a 25 year old PF on an expiring contract can land you.

With Hedo, Harrigton and Q all on the books this year, this franchise has already invested $20M into a position in which one of our brightest prospects will be needing as much development time as possible. The financial burden has already been taken on, and it's inescapable that we won't be getting efficiency for our dollar out of that position.

Do you pay Q $2.6M this year to ride the pine, just so you can pay him another $2.8M to play backup next season once Hedo and Harrington are gone (that is, if he isn't already replaced in the depth chart by Jones?)? That's an equally inefficient way to spend $2.6M as it is to cut him (plus, you're also paying for McBob, so all up you're spending $5.6M this season just to watch Q ride the pine). And you still won't see any kind of draft pick in return for him.

Mathematically, it doesn't make sense to keep Q. He's not in a position to return any kind of value to us.

Waive Q and talk him into accepting an assistant coach or special consultant position with the team. He can make back those remaining 2.5 mil over a few years that way.

Had we drafted PJ3 and kept Iggy instead of moving him for Aff/Harrington, we'd look like:

Ayon/Vuc
BBD/McRoberts/KO
PJ3/Harkless/Q
Iggy/JJ
Meer/Ish/Moore

I'd like that team. Only problem is we'd be too competitive for our own good. Would just delay the rebuild until Iggy left.

40 wins, an aging star, the same big contracts, and a mediocre draft pick. It's to this team's longterm benefit to suck as much as humanly possible in the short term. Losing is the name of the game.

So far we haven't seen close to the team that we will be trotting out for the regular season. I still think we'll win 30+

This team isn't going to win more than 20-25.
