Ty Lawson Contract Extension Compared To Jeff Teague?

What do you think Jeff Teague is worth right now? He could very well improve during the upcoming season and his value could increase.

However, Denver and Ty Lawson are talking a contract extension, and the range is 4yrs, $44 million.

I think statistically he wont change much because he will be sharing the PG duties with Harris and another ball dominant combo guard in Lou Williams. I'd say from what he has done he'd be worth about 5-6 million a year to a team that wants to invest in him.

Nail on head, Stebo. So far he hasn't proven enough to be worth more than what Louis got which is ~5 per. This year will be a great measuring stick because he will have two other guys that he needs to demonstrate that he's head and shoulders above to even be in the same contract stratosphere as Lawson.....and even Lawson is asking for a lil too much because he's in that 2nd tier of PGs that are good but not near the Pauls, Westbrooks and Rondos.

Plus 1, I don't think we'll resign him if he asks for more than 6 mil maybe 7 mil if he proves himself this season.

He will easily get 7 mill on the open market. EASILY.

He outperformed Harris and Williams last year so I don't think that GM's are going to be too swayed by his numbers in a year where the team has a logjam at his position.

His breakout performance against the Bulls, the fact that everyone in the league knows that Joe Johnsons dominated the ball and Marvin Williams (probably) performing well when getting away from this offense will all play into him getting more money. If we think we can get him for 5 mil, I think we are dreaming.

I would just love to read what criteria you have Teague outperforming Harris and Williams in last year but I'll temper my excitement as I've already read a half dozen caveats.

Simple. They all put up basically the same offensive numbers, with Teague having the best FG% of the three and played better D than the other two.

That simple. All things were basically equal on the offensive end, Teague was much better on the defensive end.

Also, considering that this was Teague's first year as a starter or getting major minutes while this was Harris's 7th and Williams 5th, I would think Teagues year was A: more impressive and B: would draw more looks from GM's around the league.

Basically we have seen the ceiling for all 3 guys, and I don't think you could find a GM in the league that wouldn't take Teague first of the 3.
