Mo Williams out. Probably just precautionary. Tinsley will start.

I honestly believe our defense has improved. But the Lakers are throwing 3rd and 4th stringers out there. Not really good competition.

Big Al just PASSED out of a DOUBLE-TEAM to a wide-open Hayward who hit the CORNER THREE.

There might yet be hope for this team. :)

Kanter has a hook shot. I'm liking it.

Evans needs to work on the other areas besides jumping out of the arena. Good thing he's our 12th man.

I'm going to riot if they don't start posting Favors up. If he never develops an offensive game, it will solely be on the coaches shoulders. Absolutely inexcusable to not give him touches in the post during pre-season. Absurd.

Marvin Williams is going to fill in nicely on this team.

Can't get too excited about preseason if course. Dwight Howard has to bring it every night for the Lakers though. Kobe and Nash and Pau will do better but everyone else is pretty bad. Jameson and MWP will disappoint.

Have you ever thought about it might be Favors. I agree he needs more touches but I really don't think it is because the coaches don't want him to develop.

Just checked the box score. Wow not good news that Carrol an Favors led the team in assists with only 4 each. Especially with 53% shooting for the night the point guards should have done tons better.

Most of the scoring was on breakaway layups and transition baskets. So not many PG assists if you will. BTW, Loved the Foye, Burks, Carol, Favors, Kanter lineup. We really can play 11 deep every game. If I were Corbin I'd pressure the ball from tip off everygame, quicken the pace of the game, and use our youth, athletism and depth as our main advantage. Basically just wear teams down.

It's always nice to blowout lakers. It's not important if is in preseason or they are howard and Gasol-less. It's always nice.

Agree with this 100%.

No player played more than 23 min, so those numbers are OK. We had 25 assists as a team and 8 players had 2 or more assists, which means we're moving the ball and getting everyone involved. Some other thoughts:
Burks is an amazing finisher.
Kanter now has a hook shot. And since he has the up and under, it's gonna be a lot tougher to guard him. He tried a spin move a couple of times, which didn't work really well. But it's nice to see he's expanding his game.
Love what Marvin brings to this team.
Looks like Favors is starting to wake up.
Carroll seems to have improved a bit from last season.
Foye finally made some shots. Aside from a dumb 3, thought he had a nice game.

Oklahoma City was last in the league in assists last year despite being the second best offensive team. I think we, as Jazz fans, have been conditioned through a couple decades of Sloan ball orchestrated by great point guards to see assists as an inherently vital and important statistic, but the truth is you can have a great offense without getting a lot of assists; and you certainly don't have to have 30%+ of those assists come from one player on the court.

Edit: Jazz had 25 assists on 39 field goals. That's not bad at all. Personally I'm encouraged that we had so many guys with more than 1 assist.

It's pretty simple... he doesn't get the touches or opportunities he needs in order to develop. That's on the coaches... nothing Favors can do about that.
