no. it just means he's bigger.
he was physically dominant for his position already. adding bulk can help a player play through contact and stuff like that, but it can also lead to less flexibility, quickness and range of motion.

quite frankly, he looks top heavy which for a basketball player isnt necessarily a good thing. as was already mentioned, some people think that being top heavy contributed to oden's continued knee problems.

He's probably worked his legs out but not as much as his arms because of his injury. He's mostly likely done a lot of calf risers and little weight on the leg press.

What is this and why is Rose scared of this?

I only know of cutting AKA losing weight, cutting to burn fat for weightlifting (which i'm doing now)

Is that it? And if so, why are people afraid of cutting?

Quick changes of movement in different directions on the court. ie, Darting either left or right towards the basket to shake a defender. Will test his lateral stability of which the ACL is primarily responsible for.

Ahhh! lightbulb, cutting of course....

Thanks. I can see why that's scary.

Suggs is talking about playing this Sunday for the ravens and he tore his acl in april

Is a 6 month recovery possible for rose? That would mean we could get him back by december

Wishful thinking I know

But Oden had chronic knee issues coming into the draft.

I would think he has taken advice from professionals in regards to his addition of bulk and not just done it himself. At least I hope he has.

Something i noticed on commercials/behind the scenes stuff...was surprised when i saw it.

With these pics im more surprised by the fact he isnt wearing any sort of brace.

no brace is key.... why isnt' he wearing a brace just for stabilization and support? Put that brace on Mr. Unicorn.

I'm also not so excited about the extra bulk in the upper body. It's understandable because he can't run around right now, but you don't want to be adding extra weight/pressure when you have a knee, ankle or foot injury.

I hope that the Bulls training staff have studied about the impact of upper body weight on knees/legs especially with a serious injury like this. That said, is the upper body weight more dangerous for 7 footers like Oden, Yao than a smaller guy like Rose

This thread might be a bit premature even if technically true. The clip they showed of him on the pre-game, he wasn't really elevating like you would for a real game jumper, but just kind of doing a light hop, form practice jumper.

Still says a lot about the level of muscle development and joint support to have any kind of levitation. I, for one, am excited about this.

Personally, I'm hoping that the Bulls training staff already knows all about the impact of upper body weight on a surgically repaired knee. :D

I would hope they learned about it in college, although we all know that as much as the Bulls' medical staff sucks, most of them probably didn't even go to college, they got their licenses in a Cracker Jack box...
