Chris Douglas Roberts has an opportunity because he has the size needed in the backcourt. The guards who are there playing the two position are size deficient causing mismatches problems. Roberts has to do three major tasks be a good defender and support the offense by making the three and hiting open jumpers consistent and learning the passing game and dibble pentration. Combining these skills timely will help the Lakers when Kobe is resting, fouls and a solid backup when needed. It is his opportunity to take and find a new home in the NBA. Regaining his form and promise that lead him to the NBA would be a significant achievement can he do it.

flashes here and there, but that's all it ever is, I have seen the exact same thing from him every time he gets on the floor...ok shooting, pretty good defense, not too good around the rim.

So It looks pretty apparent were not keeping CDR on the final roster. I really think this will comeback to bite us in the ass. This guy could've really helped at some point in the season smh. We really didnt give him no burn in preseason to see what he can do in the game. Was reading around that he actually was playing well in practice

he is getting absolutely no burn here in preseason so far and were about to start cutting people soon. Even when all the guys we know for sure who aren't gonna make the team were put in the game he still didnt get in. Dont think coach Brown really gave this guy a chance to prove himself in the preseason games

The Lakers waived Ronnie Aguilar and Reeves Nelson today. They still have at least four cuts to go.

CDR, Goudelock and DJO are still there for now at least.

In a perfect world, we would cut Duhon and Clark, and there'd be enough room for him no question. But then, you already read the precondition for that.

I don't believe CDR sucks at all. The right opportunity just hasn't presented itself (and may never it seems) for him. He's definitely can be a 8th or 9th guy on a contending team I believe. The guy defends well, doesn't need the ball in his hands to be effective and plays hard. Sometimes it just comes down to "who's going to give you a chance to showcase your talents." If by some change he makes this roster I bet he will become a fan favorite even though he may not even play a lot. And we can sign him for a relatively cheap $

I don't get the love affair with CDR, he hasn't shown anything this pre season to be worth a roster spot when we have Ebanks and Meeks fighting for backup SG minutes. I expect DJO to be the bench riding 3rd/4th string SG who spends time in the NBDL this year and CDR to be looking for another team when roster cuts are finished.

Pretty much the smartest post on here. What guys dont get is that teams arent interested in signing players JUST to ride the pine. They signed Meeks above the vet mini for a 2 year deal for the simple fact they knew he could help this team. The NBA rotation isnt 12 men. The likelihood of CDR seeing the floor is next to none after you got the starting 5, Jamison, Meeks, Blake and Ebanks logging minutes.

If CDR or any other camp invite is going to be the missing piece then LA wasnt ready to win anyway.

Well I guess I'll bring it back to simplicity. It must be something CDR isn't doing in practice, because if he was he'd see the floor simple as that. He's decent but he probably wasn't going to get minutes even if he made the squad. Sometimes when guys can hang on and he be maybe the last cut from the Lakers, the rest of the teams in the league take note and figure that maybe he could help them. I seen this happen with several guys before.

DEEP3CL idk if everyone here has the laker channel but coach Dave Miller attends the practices and has been pushing for him to make the final roster (no personal attachments) Says he's been doing well in practice. And I'd be more inclined to believe what everyone is saying if coach Brown hasn't had a knack for overlooking talent (prime example is Devin Ebanks, who's been sitting there in our own back yard). But hey we're all entitled to our opinions.

no CDR is pretty trash. i mean he obviously has talent, thats been obvious since college. but hes dumb as hell and that almost never changes, especially after being in the league a few years.

It's extremely relevant when you only have 15 max roster spots and 13 of them may already be taken. Even if the Princeton wasn't a position-less offense, you would still be trying put the best roster you could on the floor. If you think having three third-string PGs -- TWO being career journeymen-- is a prudent use of resources, then thank god you aren't our GM.

Fortunately, it sounds as if Mitch and Jim are aware of this issue and will do something about it in the weeks/months ahead.
