Steve Nash or Dragic?

Post#1 » by Raptor_Guy » Thu Oct 18, 2012 2:12 pm

Could you guys help me decide which would be better for my team? I imagine both will be available to me in the 3rd/4th round but I'll likely only be able to get one.

While I know Dragic will likely get more points/steals I value efficiency on my team and Nash is great for that since his shooting %s are off the charts. Any suggestions?

Dragic. Nash's percentages are a bit overrated these days because he doesn't shoot as much as he used to. With all the weapons the Lakers have you could see his volume dip even more. Nash despite shooting FTs at a 90% clip still only had the 27th largest positive impact last year in the cat. His FT impact wasn't much higher than a guy like Conley. Nash definitely does have an efficiency advantage over Dragic (I actually expect Dragic to regress a little this year in FT%) but I don't think it overcomes the huge points/steals advantage. Spending an early round pick on a PG who doesn't get swipes is tough.

I was in the same conundrum but ended up choosing Dragic. bank shot above makes a good argument by the way.

The good thing with Dragic is that he is consistently able to play more minutes than Nash, which was the biggest factor for me. More Pt means more stat padding availability (usually for the better). Also Lakers are packed at the PG position, I'd imagine that would negatively affect Nash's PT.

In a 16 team league and just picked dragic with my 2nd pick. Nash was actually taken 1 pick ahead. Feeling a bit uneasy about it given the suns roster overhaul and his small sample size. In 28 games as a starter, he put up 18 PPG, 3.5 RPG, and 8 APG with great percentages. Probably wishful thinking that he does it again, but i'll take slightly lower #s.
