Why don't u guys relax. Just accept that Jonas is a true franchise all star already. (Just look at his preseason numbers and tell me otherwise, not to mention the kid has been beasting it in the euroleague since he was in diapers). Maybe the reason why he got suspended is cause he blatantly refuses to accept that. I'm not being sarcastic either. On a board full of raptors fans, this becomes our board; so get with the popular opinion or get out.

He got suspended for attempting to derail. Pure and simple. If he posted the same post in a thread about James Harden, Rose or Melo he would have been treated the same. We are cracking down on posts and posters that derail, bait, troll and do anything else detrimental to the board. I invite any and all posters who feel he has been unfairly suspended to start a thread in the feedback forum where you can try to justify and defend his post and explain how it was conducive to good discussion on this board. Please don't post any more in here about it.

Our goal is to make this forum readable and a place for intelligent discussion.

The old Pau maybe, at 20 Pau was strictly a face up player who even played sometimes as a SF still.
Jonas has a wider frame and i'm sure will get bigger, i think he'll end up looking more like Howard than Pau. On the other hand he doesn't have the insane coordination and ball handling ability that Pau has for a guy his size, and he's nowhere near the passer Pau is.

Pau plays face up now much more than he ever did in Memphis. In fact, we used to complain about the coach using Pau in the low post and having Darko in the high post. Pau Gasol is in the upper 10 of most skilled bigs to ever play this game (and I am a big Pau hater). I always considered Pau the offensive twin to KGs defense.

huh? when Pau was 20 YO he was still playing in Barcelona.
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

offensively he's already better than noah/bogut .... maybe defensively he is noah like, with better size, but offensively he's much better, and will only get better with time

Bogut is more than solid offensively, he's not limited to putbacks and cuts and the occasional set shot like Noah, he actually has a post game.

This is a small preview of what Jonas can do. I have watched his games this year and he has some good moves. His next thing will be his body. Once he gains strength he will cause havoc for so many centers in the NBA. another great thing about Valanciunas is that he can hit his FT's. No "Hack a Lithuanian" kinda stuff or he will make you pay.

Typical Laker ignorance.

I am not a Raptor fan but I expect big things from Jonas, the kid can flat out play. Forget Raptor boards listen to what professional scouts say, this kid is going to be the real deal, book it!

Raptors with Lowry and Valanciunas are currently underrated, imo.

They played real nice against NY when they stepped it up.

Both he and Drummond look like they could be very special, the Cavs have to be absolutely kicking themselves right now.

Pau Gasol comparisons are dumb. The guy looks more like a Joakim Noah or Tyson Chandler

I don't understand the Noah/Varejao comparisons offensively just as much as some don't understand the Gasol ones. Noah has always been passive about scoring the ball, sometimes to the point of looking like he was allergic to it. He's improved but Jonas already has shown a penchant for knowing how to set himself up in the post while showing off some nice post moves.

As for Chandler, Jonas has what teams were hoping Chandler would have eventually developed when he was first drafted, and that's an ability to score around the basket with a post game. Obviously Jonas is hardly there yet, but he's shown off some great fundamentals as a post player so far.

There is so much fail in this post. First of all, one of those things is not like the other. Bargs is a 20 point scorer in this league. With all his fault, that's quite a feat. The other thing, Araujo is brazilian. You know, Brazil, the country, in South-America. About Jonas. You have to know nothing about basketball (you probably were trolling) if you watched him play, and those were the 2 guys he reminded you about. He's a totally different player than those guys. He is a gym rat first of all, has heart, so won't coast through seasons like Bargs. And obviously, a much better player than Araujo ever was, already. Jonas is a guy that dominated so far all of his life on the basketball court, with great skills, and very good athleticism. Now obviously, the hardest part is continue to do that, and he may won't be able to do it. But imo his floor is a good double-double center (because of his crazy motor), and his ceiling is very, very high (great size and length, good skills, magnetic hands, and solid touch around the rim).

Valanciunas
Varejao
Barnes
SG
Kyrie

why was that so hard? i'm not saying thompson didn't have bright spots, and i'm not writing off waiters, but the above lineup (while unproven and could've amounted to nothing to be fair) just looks so much more promising.. hopefully kyrie doesn't get lebron'd by the cavs usual inept ownership/FO, kid will be a top 5 player in the league.. the only moves i have agreed with since getting the top pick in 03 are drafting bron and drafting kyrie, and a 7 year old could have done that..
