Who will be the Jays next Manager?

Post#1 » by LittleOzzy » Sun Oct 21, 2012 1:51 pm

John Farrell is out after two seasons as manager of the Toronto Blue Jays, so who do you think the Jays will bring in to replace him?

The Blue Jays will shift their focus to a short list of managerial candidates, which could resemble a similar group from 2010. Former catcher and current Indians bench coach Sandy Alomar Jr. becomes an early favorite to succeed Farrell after finishing as his runner-up just two years ago.

Also under consideration could be former candidate DeMarlo Hale, while Tampa Bay bench coach Dave Martinez has long been viewed as a manager in waiting.

I hope it is Martinez, Ausmus or Alomar Jr.

Predictions for the Jays tend to be wrong so I do not think it will be Alomar so I will go with Ausmus.

If those are the only names - then i prefer Alomar over Hale and Martinez, he seems more ready than the other two so the reports say anyways.

Another name available is Jim Tracy, if they're looking for an experienced manager

Can't see them not going with Butterfield, it's the Blue Jay way. Giant Tiger - check

Cito would be great because he over achieves and a big chunk of the fan base hates him
for what ever reason and I like watching them squirm.

But on the real we already predictably know the Jays will hire some no name rookie manager
that's hailed as some kind of prodigy. Out of all the names I've heard I'd roll the dice with
Sandy Alomar Jr.

Omar Vizquel...

I'd be happy with Dave Martinez or Sandy Alomar Jr.

Brad Ausmus would be my choice.

Me too.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

I figure T. Lovullo and B. Butterfield will be serious contenders for it, and I wouldn't really be opposed to either.

Maybe D. Wakamatsu, but I REALLY hope not.

Outsiders? Alomar Jr., Ausmus, and maybe D. Martinez. I'd be okay with any of them too.

For the most part, I don't have a strong opinion on managers, especially rookie ones, which almost all are.
Good Lord, the little stoner's got a point.

Well Lovullo is gone to Boston with Farrell as a bench coach. So he is out

Industry source said Torey Lovullo will come with Farrell as bench coach; yet to be confirmed by team sources

We have had two coaches in our history leave the team and both of them went back to the team they joined us from. There is nothing to worry about in that regard. The only thing we need to worry about is we make bad choices.

For the record Bobby Cox left to be GM for the Braves and did not become the manager until he had been there for 5 years. I was always under the impression he had left to be the manager right away.
