if the Pistons were half as good as their fans think they are they'd have won this game by 20. i think we'll have to wait a while for that pick. oh well

The pick top 1 protected in 2015 so a little bit of waiting is not an issue. I wonder more how the Blazers situation will turn out with so many injuries already in western conference (they don't need to make playoffs to send us the pick, just top 12 protected).

I think the Blazers will be in the top 10 this year (of the lottery). I really can't see Detroit sniffing the playoffs. They are stuck in perennial 10-11th place in the East. We'll most likely end up with 3 late lottery picks in 2014 (ours, Detroit at #9, Portland #13)

I agree that we won't get Pistons' pick this year, not sure about Blazers' one, i would say so initially but they may just drafted exceptionally well and have a decent starting lineup, not much of a bench though. Then again everyone would be surprised if no key Blazers would become injured this season. If we get their pick in the upcoming draft, Dario Saric is projected to be available, paired with Wiggins they led the World team to win over Shabazz Muhammad, Nerlens Noel USA.

How long is the Blazers' pick protected? If they decided to go on a full-tilt rebuild, how long would it be before we saw that pick?

Portland's own 2013 1st round pick to Charlotte (top 12 protected in the 2013 draft, top 12 protected in 2014, top 12 protected in 2015, and unprotected in the 2016 Draft).

That pick's going to be a couple years away. The West is way too deep for the Blazers to make it unless they make some serious changes. Batum would have to completely break out and Lillard, Matthews, and Leonard will all have to be really good to even have a chance. It's unlikely we see that pick till 2015 or 2016.

Also around the time CHI will probably get to cash in on ours. It be nice to never have a year without a 1st round pick.
