stats through 12 games (no sim):

8.9ppg, 1.8rpg, 6.8apg, 0.5spg, 0.4bpg 47%fg, 45%3pt, 68%ft

am i the only one playing every game? is that crazy? does my player get SP points if i sim a game and he does well? or do you have to play the game to get SP points?
Nope. I've played every game except for a six or seven game stretch when I accidentally hit "play next key game" once. I'm about 65 games in.

Yes I'm addicted.

Finally.... My first triple double

I've been scoring between 25 and 40 in each of my last ten games, but during that stretch, he's been consistently cutting my minutes down from 25 to about 15. I can't figure out what I did to deserve that, but it didn't matter, I just scored my new career high of 43 in 17 minutes of action against the Knicks. Went 8-13 from distance and 15-27 from the field. My percentages are finally coming up.

The same thing happened to me - I had got up to 33 minutes in the middle of the season and Beasley was down to 11. However, after one B- game, my coach bounced me back to 19 and Beasley had 33 again. And now for the last ten to fifteen games I've been getting one minute more and more with each game until I got back in the starting unit with this triple double.

I've only been playing key games and I've enjoyed doing that. At the end of the year my guy only averaged about 13 points but he went off in games I controlled him. I ended up dragging the Suns to the 2nd round of the playoffs only to lose to the Thunder in 6.

You don't get SP if you sim but you do you get "paid" more often so you level up faster than you would playing every game. Also the fact you get double points in key games. Only downside is you are not as good in your career as quickly as you could be.

I've played about 30 of my 78 regular season games, so I wouldn't get bored that fast (it has always happened the previous years) and I actually like the fact that I don't get that many SPs. It does seem like you don't improve as fast as you did in the last 2Ks, but still I don't like becoming one of the best players in the league in the last part of your first season. It gets too easy too fast. I'm really enjoying my sixth man role in Phoenix by racking up statlines like 14/9/6. I want to enjoy not being the man and gradually improving my game in Phoenix and then going for the money after the first two seasons and becoming the man on a weak team. Yep, that's my whole 2K life plan. If you're wondering, after earning myself some cash and averaging over 20 points on a bad team, I'll sign with a title contender once that contract ends up and go for as many titles as I can.

I play every game as well, mainly for the points and to keep my averages up. I want to win rookie of the year and doubt it will happen if I simulate.
I'm averaging 16.9 pts, 4.8 assists, 2.6 rebs, 1.7steals, .437% FG, .370% 3pt, .70% Ft.

Ever since I bought NBA live 96 on the megadrive, I've spent too much of my life playing basketball video games.

I'm now in my first playoffs series ever, tied 2-2 against the Clippers. They completely blew us out in games 1 and 3, since Gortat is out and Jermaine and Frye can't keep their bigs off the boards. They're dunking all over us. However, we did win games 2 and 4. I have to say that it seemed like we played the perfect game and they just flat out sucked. I'm going to try to force a game 7 (I already know that they will destroy us in game 5) and then take over.

I'm averaging 20 points, 12 rebounds, 8 assists, 1.5 blocks and a steal so far.

And this is what I mean by us having to play a perfect game to win them.

Image

It's from game 4 and it scares me that we only won by 3. I can't do this every time.

That's basically what I felt like when I was playing the Thunder in the playoffs with myplayer. I eventually accepted that my team wasn't good enough unless I played "hero ball" and even then it was 1 out 3 chance.

@lamar, i take it the CPU doesnt rate jared dudley too highly. shannon brown is a bum.

my player "silky" is such a diva. 16 games into his career and he has already asked for jeremy lin and toney douglas to be traded and complained to the gm that he and douglas dont get along. but honestly, we have to trade one of them for some help inside, let me start at point guard, free up lamb to get more minutes behind martin. we have no inside scoring. asik plays 35 minutes a night and that is basically playing 4 on 5 on offense. patterson aint much better. and royce white and montiejunas never make the game day roster. they are stuck behind patterson, jujuan johnson, t jones and gary forbes in the rotation. we are 9-7. chandler parsons missed 5 games to injury and i think we lost all 5 of those games. we might be 9-2 when parsons plays. he is a stud. what this team really needs is a scoring, low post power forward, someone like say..... luis scola. he would be perfect.

I don't think I've seen a single gameplay injury in 2k13 yet (which is awesome because we are hanging on to the 8th seed by a single game with two left in the regular season).

But the injury thing (or lack thereof) is kind of strange because in 2k11, injuries used to dismantle all my teams, I was occasionally down to eight man rosters.

I've played about 40 games and went to the GM a second time demanding that I start over Lowry, hinting to get rid of him. The 2nd time the GM listened and said he was going to ring the coach about me starting.

Jonas is injured so it would be good if they could get some big help for Lowry or a stud Sf.

And in regards to Shannon Brown he is WAY overrated in this game.

Really? Boston's GM is a dick. He's brushed me off about five times, telling me it's the coach's decision. Also after the first two times he brought in help following my request, he's brushed me off as well.

rockets gm listened to me and put me in the starting lineup over lin. we played the spurs in my first start and jumped out to a 17-2 lead. but we lost the lead in the 2nd quarter when lin came in and i went to the bench. then in the 3rd i had to play most of the quarter at sg only to watch lin dive 1 on 5 into the paint every play. by the time i got back to pg we were down 10. we lost. but i had 15 assists (and only 1 turnover) in the game and got an A rating despite shooting 2-for-10.

speaking of bad shooting, my player has morphed into kemba walker on offense. the past 4 games i cant throw it in the ocean. i think my last for are something like: 2-10, 1-5, 3-12 and 2-7. what the hell happened? i really need to learn how to shoot. i went to the practice court and shot for like 30 minutes and i couldnt make anything, shot stick or x-button, doesnt matter. its like the more i play the worse i shoot. argh.

That happened to me mid-season as well. I pulled out of the slump around game 60 and started throwing in 25/10 every night, and that's when Doc started cutting my minutes. Yeah, he CUT my minutes.

Well, we're in the playoffs as an 8th seed now and just got dismantled by Miami in game 1. First game all season long KG was cold.

Are you using the shot feedback function? It really helped me improving my shooting. It tells you everything from how good of a shot you took, how close the defenders were, if you held the X button to long or not long enough, etc.

i turned on the shoot feedback function when i was in the shootaround mode last night. i took about 100 jumpers and i was getting between F and C+. the shoot feedback is just 3 icons that appear together in the top left corner along with the grade, right?. what the hell do each mean? maybe i should have read the manual. lol. what is weird, about two weeks ago i was in the shootaround mode and i was draining everything. last night i couldnt make anything, and i have increased my shooting stats since the first time.

Yeah it's those icons. I'm not sure what all of them mean exactly. The grade I think means how good of shot selection it was. Like a wide open set jumper will most likely get an A.

The guy with the shooting motion tells you if you are holding on the button to long or too short. You want the guy to show green and not red. I would recommend changing your shooting motion from the default. That actually has more impact in this game than in previous. Once you shoot enough you'll see when the character motion and the green icon lineup. From that you'll have a better idea when to release.

Another one of the icons is proximity to defender I believe. Basically take shots when you have space, not when they are pressing on you.

There is one other I think, a basketball ro something, but I'm not to sure what it means.

Also another thing is even if your shot feedback is all positive it doesn't always mean it will go end. Same thing if your feedback is negative, it could still go in. Hope that helps.

The grade takes everything into account: the release, whether your feet are set right, and how far the defenders are. I've noticed that next to nothing goes in unless you get a B- or better.
