Two more cuts: CDR and Somogyi

Post#1 » by dockingsched » Mon Oct 22, 2012 8:38 pm

Mike Bresnahan @Mike_Bresnahan

Two more Lakers waived (Chris Douglas-Roberts + Greg Somogyi). Three players fighting for one or two spots: Sacre, Johnson-Odom + Goudelock.

16 people on the roster, at least 1 of sacre/goudelock/johnson-odom will be cut, may be even 2.

i'm thinking sacre played himself on the roster already. not sure if they'll keep either goudelock or johnson-odom.

i'll put what i think is going to happen in order of most likely

1. cut just johnson-odom
2. cut both
3. cut just goudelock

Has DJO even played in the preseason? (I know he has, but it seems like he's gotten less minutes than CDR,Morris, Glock etc, and I've never seen him play in the games I've watched). Surely it's going to be him that gets cut. Glock isn't Brown's favorite person, but I just can't see DJO picked over him. Sacre is going to play the Mbenga role, with Jamison and Hill backing up the 4/5. I guess Ebanks is going to be the backup 3, Meeks backup 2. I have no idea who'll backup the point. I wish we kept another wing rather than another undersized guard. I liked CDR from all the stories i read about him, but he didn't impress me on the court.

Cutting DJO for sure (since he didn't get any minutes) unless strangely enough they saw something out of him in practice yet still didn't play him.

Maybe they knew enough of what they liked from him and let Goudelock play to prove otherwise. I'm not sure but we know Goudelock aint gonna be ish...DJO's athleticism is worth keeping around to see if he can improve in other areas.

Was hoping that CDR would have made the team somehow. Can't they send DJO to D-League and cut no one else?

d-league doesn't work like baseball, you can only have 15 guys, whether they are on the main squad or d-league.

No surprise here, now it comes down to the brass tacks. Sacre earned the right to be the front-runner.

Would love to see DJO make the cut, he is an athletic, strong kid, who can come in and gun off the bench. He has seen limited minutes though, not to mention his shot is streaky and I worry about him on the defensive end.

Enjoyed watching him play here at Marquette, hope he catches on someplace if the 'Show lets him walk.

really isnt that big of a shocker imo. sacre definitely makes the team, hes had a good preseason. with goudelock you get a better shooter but with DJO you get more athleticism and someone who likes to attack. i personally think we need more shooting to come off the bench so i would go with goudelock but both are going to be buried on the bench so its not like its going to make a difference

Expected. I think Sacre is a lock, but I think MB might take DJO over Glock simply because MB hasn't shown much confidence in the latter and I don't think he's been impressed with what he's done.

Well its pretty obvious that Sacre is going to make the team but guessing which one will make it between DJO and Goudelock is tough, since DJO hasn't been given enough minutes to prove himself we don't know how good he could be......maybe DJO will get some minutes at backup PG in the next game so we can see if he's worth keeping.

Goudelock's last chance was his brief stint at PG this preseason, I expect him to be gone next.

DJO isn't necessarily any better right now, he's just the younger player with more potential who they can keep in the NBDL this year.

Bye goudelock.

I think they keep DJO only if Hill is healthy. Otherwise we NEED Sacre

Bye-Bye CDR. We already got way too many guards.

"could they be making a space for Terrence Williams?! "

I'll be that guy for now so no one will follow that up and insist him.
