Shumpert isn't enough of a sweetener.

Atl hangs up the phone disrespectfully upon hearing this.

I see no problem with leaving with his deal and playing the season out. You morons want to start all over because one man is out 3 weeks. We are a deep team and this is it's first test. Not like others can't fill in until everyone returns.

Posts like these are just.... sad.

I wouldn't package Shumpert with Amar'e for a good player... let alone Big Baby and Hedo. Christ.

If you want to create trade scenarios for Amare, you gotta look for players on longer contracts than he has (or at least the same length).

David Lee tops my list. Boozer would be a candidate but Chicago probably would rather amnesty him and extend Gibson instead. Memphis has several contracts in Gay, Randolph but I don't see the attraction on their side. It has to be a player that the other team does not value much. Denver may call within a year or two offering McGee is things don't work out. Kings may not say no to a Thornton/Salmons/Hayes package. I bet Washington might want to do a deal involving one of Okafor/Nene plus Ariza if they are not winning.

Obviously any of these deals would only occur if Amare is healthy.

you almost have to look at a team that has a problem signing free agents.... I thought about the rockets but morey would just beat us up in a trade again, plus they have two poison pill contracts to deal with in asik and lin, so they won't take on amare.. i was thinking kevin martin, but his deal is expiring.. so that is out...

I would check golden state for biendrins and peter pan( curry) I doubt they give us lee, he is productive....

then I would visit atlanta and see if we can ship carmelo for josh smith and I sure there will have to be some fillers..

then you can put josh at PF, chandler at center, and heck if we must, play copeland at SF until we can either draft one or trade for one to fill in....

As I mentioned many times before, Josh is totally unrealistic. He has value as a player and as an expiring. They would rather max him out than take on Amare's extremely risky and not that productive contract. Add to that, Atlanta management chose their direction to rebuild the team with JJ's deal. Overall, Ferry would laugh at our faces and close the phone.

Similarly, asking for Curry is a stretch as well. One keeping Lee's outrageously untradeable contract and adding Amare does make very little sense. Two spending 50+ million annual on a front court (Lee/Amare/Bogut) is an Isiah move even incompetent GS management would dare to make. Three Curry still has some value though not much.

Houston would be the perfect choice, but no way to truly match deals up, but i do want to point out they have no poison pills deals on their books.

Lin and Asik deals don't count for them the same as it would for their prior teams.\

It only counts for the average of salaries.

If we could do it though the only similar contract for production would be acquiring K-Mart from them, and a third team to balance the difference in salary.

Houston is not taking a chance on a 60 million dollar uninsured contract. They are rebuilding.

I was looking at moving both.... josh is an expiring and he already said he was not signing extension in atlanta... would they bite on carmelo? I know they won't take amare in Atlanta, no way, no how..

I also know curry is a stretch, but I am thinking they could move lee's deal elsewhere if they got amare, but heck they already have a walking injury in bogut, not sure they want to add amare..

really we don't have many choices... i am at this point looking a doing a complete reset with maybe keeping chandler here, but I see this is just about amare.. so I will keep it at that...

HE said carmelo for josh smith. That is not something i would do but Atlanta would definitely accept.

I just saw the Melo for Smith. I thought you meant Amare for Smith. Yeah, they would certainly do Melo for Smith. Probably we would get some picks in a deal like that too. I don't think it is a good idea though.

Depends what Atlanta offers him obviously but call me the next time a player foregoes the extra Bird year that his original team can offer him.

Josh will make the most money in Atlanta. None of the current contenders have cap space to sign him outright next summer. I'd say Atlanta's chances of keeping him are pretty good.

Anyone willing to trade Melo for Smith just doesn't know basketball.

Hawks do it in a second. Josh Smith doesn't have the offensive talent or even IQ of Carmelo.
