Jazz- Portland game.

Post#1 » by Hoops Addict » Tue Oct 23, 2012 3:25 pm

Our defense was terrible.

Kanter played very well. 7-7 18 points.

Just glad we made it some what respectable at the end, but it was definitely ugly most of the game. Kanter is ready, Favors though, ugh I am starting to lose patience with him, offensively he is so raw.

People need to be patient with Favors. Honestly a bigger concern is how awful Millsap and Al Jefferson have been offensively.

I wouldn't concern myself with Millsap in the preseason too much. Preseason to me is something coaches, players fighting for playing time, and players looking to make a roster take seriously. Now Jefferson is talented and all, but Kanter is going to be much better and the direction in which we need to go, so Jefferson has to go.

Yeah, if those guys aren't excellent offensively there's really no reason to play them at the same time.

What did you guys think of Damian Lillard:

I ask since he played his college ball in Utah, so I'm sure there is some buzz about him going on around there.

He looks pretty good in the game last night. Very few of us really got to see much in college though. It's like if Portland State got a star. They still won't put them on TV.

From what I saw yesterday, you guys have a star in the making. Hope the fortune of Portland begins to turn for the better, you guys have gone through hell. You guys should be what OKC is, but far better IMO.

Jerryd Bayless looked like a star in the summer league and pre-season both years in Portland then the regular season happened. Got him both times .... just saying.

The only thing Jerryd Bayless did was put his head down and go into the lane as fast as he could in Summer League and drew a lot of fouls which lead to a lot of points. That didn't work as well once he started playing NBA regular season games. And their styles of play are so much different from each other. Bayless is more of a 2 guard in a point guard's body with short arms (hence his nickname T-Rex). While Lillard is a legit point guard with great poise and polished skills. Based on what I've seen from both players, Bayless is not a fair comparison. The only thing they have in common is they broke into the league as rookies with the Blazers.

No one around here wants Lillard to fail. He's still a rookie and hopefully he blows up, and signs a FA contract with the Jazz or someone out East :P

Lillard is the real deal.

Food for thought... we probably could've gotten Lillard on draft night if we gave up Favors... would you still make that deal now?

Lillard is like CP3 meets Billups... which is kinda scary.
