Armon's waiving is no surprise but Eyenga's is a bit. It shows Jones is definitely going to make this team.

I think Chris Johnson, Justin Harper and Josh McRoberts are likely the guys who go if a trade cannot be made.

Here's what I'm guessing will be our 15 man roster come opening day.

PG: Jameer/Moore/Ish

SG: Afflalo/Redick/Q

SF: Turk/Harkless/Jones

PF: Davis/Harrington/Nicholson

C: Vucci/Goose/O'Quinn

The Orlando Magic are likely to choose between Justin Harper, Josh McRoberts, DeQuan Jones and Quentin Richardson for the 14th and 15th spots on the roster.

Harper's deal guarantees him a salary of about $760,000 for this season, while McRoberts and Richardson would be even more expensive to cut.

Jones has impressed the Magic and has the ability to defend point guards, shooting guards and small forwards.

Interesting that the Sentinel mentions Q as being one of the ones that could be waived. This is the first time that has been mentioned by the media.

I think the Magic are going to find a way to keep Jones. There is too much raw talent there to pass up, and he has shown that he can produce.

Its a shame for Eyenga that he has not had a chance to play, but Jones emergence has made Eyenga disposable.

Justin Harper has been an utter dissapointment.

McRoberts looks like the odd big man out.

Old school +1.

I would be highly disappointed if Jones didn't make the team.

Lets just hope Henny is working on a quick trade. We need some roster spots. There has to be a contender or something that will take Afflalo and/or Harringtons contracts. Problem is we need to get picks back instead of players.

So essentially our entire offseason has been good. What else happened besides acquiring rookies and D12 leaving that I missed? And are you suggesting hiring a complete up and coming FO and coaching staff was a negative thing?

Also, I LOVE Dequan and hope he makes it. You also have to realize some things just don't work out sometimes. A few weeks ago nobody on here thought Dequan had an even minuscule chance of making the opening day roster, and now we're all on board. Which is fine, but don't let this turn into Liggins part 2 where we're letting go of the second coming of Jordan if the numbers don't work.

Will it suck? Sure. But this won't make or break our franchise for years to come. At best Dequan becomes a serviceable role player on another team. If he does make this team, he's buried unless we deal Turk midseason which I doubt. Even then, with Afflalo and Al rotating at the 3 (assuming atleast) Dequan still doesn't get big minutes.

In my heart of hearts, I do believe we're going to keep Jones. Letting go of Eyenga and his guaranteed deal, regardless of not playing this preseason and how raw he is, is still a sign this team is willing to eat some $$ to keep the guys they want. I'm sure Hennigan is working the phones to see if he can swing a deal without eating anymore salary and costing the team money, but if it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. It happens.

Is this the last Spec thread for the year? Or are we continuing it throughout the season?

Just keep it going. People like to post in one area and talk. It's always 50/50 with those. Some people want to post in here and others want to create new threads. Just keep the Speculation thread going for those that like to post/discuss and read items in one place. Trades, rumors, and cuts can still occur over the season.

With the way our team is, we need some speculation on how we can get better, now and in the future.

Henny would be a real idiot if he waives more players with guaranteed contracts that are not expirings. That would be the opposite of a cap guru type of guy. That just shrinks the amount of money each year the team can spend on players. So, I expect QRich, Hedo and possibly Harrington to stay. This is between McRob, Jones and Harper.

Unless, Henny can work on Buyouts for both Harrington and QRich that only affect this years cap. Now, that would be genius.

I would think Mcbob can be moved for a future 2nd at least, cutting Harper and keeping Dairy Queen

I remember reading some chatter that Q didn't want to be part of the "rebuild" and wanted to be dealt. Rob had initial discussions with Cle about a trade.

If that was true, I can see Rob trying ship Q for a pick then keep McBob (deadline asset) & Jones.

There is a price to pay for being a rookie in NBA training camp.

DeQuan Jones, the former University of Miami forward, learned that as soon as he joined the Orlando Magic as an undrafted newcomer a few months ago. He has had to carry luggage for the veterans, make CVS runs to buy Old Spice body wash for the team and stop at Target to pick up a stepladder for captain Jameer Nelson, who at 6 feet needs a bit of help to reach the top shelf of his locker.
