Yeah, Chris looks to have made progress in the offseason. He should do some good things this year. I think he will be more effectively consistent in his 2nd year. Looks like he may end up make being a bad value pick for where he was taken.

You sit him and let him get his head out of his ass, then if someone gets injured or the match ups are right, you bring him in. Basically you make him earn it. I think they are past the stage of playing players to trade them. I expect Randy will play the best players while giving some marginal minutes to players who are struggling in hopes that they find some groove.

If he was a bad risk for an addition and Okafor can't play well enough to compensate, well then that sucks but it is what it is. You can't fix it by playing him and him being in effective. You move forward.

At least Webster was a nice find. That softens the blow.

Of course to note I'm doing this without Ariza and Crawford in the lineup

That was an idea from a while ago but not sure we saw much if any of it. In doing that, you push Crawford PG.

Price, Crawford, Mack. I guess you let Pargo go in that situation.

Randy is running out of time to get this figured out. Trevor A and Martin haven't shown well this preseason. Martin is actually the bigger concern. They kind of let Mason go in order to keep him. As of today, its looking like keeping Mason would have been a much better move. I hated that they didn't bring him back. Would have been a great vet for Beal to get mentored from. Adding Mason to the end of that list just feels a lot better then having Martin there.

We will see. Maybe Martin can bounce back.

He played decently. Rebounded and defended. Just doesn't dunk anymore.

The one thing he was good at... he isn't good at anymore? Ughhh.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

I keep telling myself "its just pre-season, its just pre-season"........

But how good is Webster looking? Truly a starting quality SF so far. He deserves the start.

Its funny how a change of environment can help some players. Just look at Blatche. Playing within himself, mostly. But like i keep telling myself, its just preseason. Bad habits die hard.

def nice to see the win although one must concede that if LeTrav and Bosh
had played reg minutes, it's doubtful we would have won. But also hard
for me not to get overly giddy about some of the pieces which I had
major doubts about ie Price and Pargo.

Chris Singleton! my man. Nice jam. Nice 3 ball.

Liked what I saw from most players except Crawford and Ariza.

Whoever asked about getting rid of Ves doesn't watch very carefully.
In one of the season previews linked in another thread the author said something
about him not knowing how to play. Couldn't disagree more. That's one of
his biggest strengths. Love his passing and his defensive intuition. Not worried
about some perceived diminished level of hops.

Even with Ariza looking like garbage, our depth at the 3 looks reasonably
good with Webster and Singleton.

That is what i was saying lol. We were short handed and still won.

still won a pre-season game where MIA sat LeTrav and Bosh with
the outcome still in doubt. Don't get me wrong, I really liked
it. Trying to keep it real though.

Crawford took a few shots in the first half that were bad even for him. I wonder if Randy got in his ear about that. He didn't play much in the second half.

Bosh/Wade/Lebron played a combined 87 minutes. Lebron played more minutes than anyone on our team.

I saw some good things from Martin last night. He made some good hustle plays and snatched some rebounds as usual, but he was frantic on D and I noticed improvement in him putting the ball on the floor and attacking the rim. Singleton too. Funny that a position we all percieved as a weakness earlyon looks like its better than most of us thought. And actually carried us last night.

can we trade Ves for Jae Crowder? He had 21 and 9 going against Durant last night. I know its only preseason, but from what I've seen, he is gonna a be a player in this league. Still can't believe we drafted Tomas when we could've had him. Crowder pick could've been redemption for Grunfeld for the last years draft. Someone needs to tell Ted to have Grunfeld check this board before next year's draft if he even makes it that far..

Well Wade and James both played ~30 minutes and Bosh around 24. Your probably right, but it's encouraging that we won nonetheless. Also, this was the first game (ever?) we saw some emotion from Chris Singleton. That confrontation with Wade got some kinda fire lit and he responded big time.

It's a shame Ariza is being paid so much. With the way he's played, he should be forced out of the rotation all together. By preseason play alone, both CWeb and Singleton have leapfrogged him on the depth chart.

If EG would only have followed the advice of half of this board, we would have had Crowder, Brand and Denmon instead of Tomas, Ariza and Okafor. Our salary commitment would have been about $4M this year (plus Lewis' $13.7M buyout) and just $700K next year (for Crowder alone); leaving max cap room for free agency next summer.

Instead, we are paying $21M this year and $22M next year.

Please don't bring this up, Brand was honestly in our lap with us being so high on the waiver wire, Crowder was honestly in our lap in the draft and if we kept our other second rounder and bought out Lewis we could've been in really good shape! I'll never forget being on 106.7 the entire day going nuts on every show on how bad this trade was but everyones saying how great Okafor and Ariza are in the locker room. Cmon Son hows that working with Ariza now.

IDC how loyal and cheap EG is please get rid of him
