RG3 Trade Advice Please

Post#1 » by Shady Franchise » Wed Oct 24, 2012 9:14 pm

I'm trying to upgrade my QB in a standard scoring league (12 team, 1 qb, 2 wr, 2 rb, 1 te, 1 flex). One team has RG3 and Peyton Manning. I'm thinking of offering the following:

Eli Manning/Ridley/Rudolph for RG3/Spiller/D Keller

Is that a good trade, assuming he'll take it?

My roster:
Eli, Cutler
Mathews, Ridley, Jstew, Dwyer, Hillis, J Rodgers
Dem Thom, Jennings, D Moore, gibson
Graham, Rudolph

I'm 3-4 and trying to make that BIG trade to turn my season around :(
Thanks!

That's a no-brainer good trade for you, if you can make it happen go for it. However, I think that it has little to no chance of being accepted. I think that a simple Ridley/Rudolph for Spiller/Keller swap is pretty much a wash, but then add in a swap of Eli for RG3? I just don't see the incentive for the RG3 owner to accept this deal.

NW7's breakdown is spot on. I don't see any way the RG3 owner takes that deal.

If I were you, I'd consider trading for Manning instead. Two reasons:
(1) Should cost less. Any RG3 owner is (rightly) going to ask for 1st round talent in return.
(2) I'm more worried about RG3's injury potential than Manning's.

Thanks guys. What are some other QBs I should target without having to give up the ranch?

Well you are pretty much in a spot where you are going to need to give up the "ranch" for an upgrade at QB. Right now I would put Eli in the 8-10 range for QB's for the rest of the season. The only guys that I would clearly put ahead of him: RG3, Brady, Rodgers, Brees, Ryan, Peyton Manning and Big Ben. Expect to give up the "ranch" for all of those outside of perhaps Big Ben and Peyton. So I would target those two guys, and as Maritimer already alluded to Peyton is a great target since the owner has RG3. Big Ben could be another solid target, but he could very well be a starter for some team.

Edit -- Another name to consider: Michael Vick. I wouldn't try to trade a lot for him, nor would I trade someone like Eli to get him. However, he's got a favorable schedule after this week and an awesome playoff stretch (assuming you have week 15/16 for playoffs) vs Cin and Was. He is Michael Vick and we all know what that comes with, but if you can buy low on him he could pay off for you.

To be completely honest though, sticking with Eli might be your best option.

dont trade for RGIII his value is so high atm no one will fork him over unless you give up major players in compensation, not worth it

I wouldnt trade for Manning, I see his numbers going down as the weather gets worse in Denver. I would stick with Eli
