With the emergence of J Hill&Sacre is it time to trade Gasol

Post#1 » by TarktheShark » Thu Oct 25, 2012 11:40 pm

Gasol looks like a shelf of his old self. He isn't a stretch 4 by any means
and we need more spacing. He is too slow on defense and his guy always get's his against him either by quickness or strength. His pick and roll defense is bad , and did I mention he is slow

J Hill should major minutes this season, and Sacre looks like he is a goon and can play some spot minutes behind Dwight like Gotat. It's not like Gasol is taking anyone to school anymore. He has disappeared 2 playoffs in a row and still doesn't look right. Add in Jamison who can see time at the 4

I would look to dangle Gasol and target
Gallinari Nuggets
Derick Williams
Josh Smith
Ryan Anderson and Austin Rivers

we could use a more athletic 4 or a 4 that can stroke it! maybe we can add a lesser 4 but more of an impact ful bench player preferably a point

I hate to be that dude but Gasol just seems like a bad fit with the starters. Maybe he could be a bench player but I would ship him out while he still has some value

First of all Tark the Hornets are rebuilding they're not going to want a vet making 19m per yr. Second I really doubt the Lakers would trade Gasol to a conference rival. And finally although the Atlanta idea isn't bad but Williams contract hinders that move and Atlanta a who is also rebuilding doesn't want a vet with that much money left.

Nah don't evaluate the preseason solely, I mean our big 4 barely got to play with each other yet. I would re-evaluate to trade-deadline time though and see what kind of progress we have; however, IF a Gasol trade were to happen, it would most likely be a scenario where we under-performed in the playoffs and trade him next offseason as an expiring.

Sacre's emergence is good because from what i've read Hill is more comfortable at PF so when next summer comes and Jamison maybe decides to retire the Lakers would have a a backup PF already in place with Hill and if Ebanks comes aroudf that will cover backup SF and the Lakers can concentrate on adding a good backup PG/Nash understudy like a CJ Watson, Augustin or even though its a stretch Jarred Jack

Did you seriously say with the emergence of Sacre? He can barely defend and his rebounding sucks. He has no talent hes just making it off of hard nose play and because the lakers need a back up center. Now Hill I love but he is no where near Pau's level. It would be a real stupid move to consider trading Pau. He brings so many dimensions to the team. He can play center or power forward. Has a high basketball IQ. Great passer our best post passer. Can stretch the floor post up or be used in pick n rolls. He can even be the go to player when Kobe Dwight and Nash are on the bench. What makes this team so good is that it creates so many mismatches. Please stop overreacting and coming up with these dumb ideas.

NO it's idiotic to trust two guys who are barely scratching the surface. I must say you're basketball IQ is rather low.........real low. What a stupid thought.

How's this for an almost unbelievable Laker trivia: The Lakers will miss the playoffs this year for the 3rd time since 1976.
