Re: Kemba Walker vs Ramon Sessions
Sessions seems to be turning the ball over a lot more than Kemba. TOs are going to be more deadly than usual to a team like this so if this continues than it is easily Kemba's job to lose.

It was. Now it's easily his job to lose.
Uh. Yeah.

Re: Kemba Walker vs Ramon Sessions
For me it's less about who starts and more about who is on the floor together. I either want to see Ramon start with Hendo or Kemba start with Gordon. Because if and when Kemba wildly drives, he'll hopefully learn to look up and find Gordon, who can knock down some shots. Kicking it out to Hendo would be close to pointless. Ramon is more adept at finding and hitting his own shots, so Hendo's lack of shooting ability is less detrimental. Kemba and Gordon coming off the bench would be a nice scoring and energy boost, though.
The Lamb flock's vision has come true.

I'm with you 'MKGsMotor'. Kemba & Hendo are a bad combination. Hence the reason why they usually start out flat in the 1st quarter. I can't recall a game where they both were making shots in unison. It's always one or the other. They just don't complement each other. Then to add onto that, Hendo is a detriment to MKG's style of play because neither of them can stretch the floor, so opposing defenses usually crowd the lane, hurting the whole offense, including the big men. Personally, I would start Kemba & BG alongside MKG on the wing, keep Mullens at PF, with Haywood anchoring the middle. As much trouble as this team have at scoring no matter who is on the floor, I think that it's safe to say that they have no time to wait for offensive firepower to be coming off the bench.

The only problem with that lineup (Kemba/BG/MKG/Mully/Haywood) is it's really porous on D. I don't think Mully moves laterally well enough to provide help for Kemba and BG if (when) they get broken down. I know Haywood doesn't. Biz and Tyrus would help in that category a lot, and all things considered, I think Kemba/BG/MKG/Tyrus/Mully might be the best offense we can muster.
It's a shame Biz is so behind b/c he has the best athleticism and size to cover a lot of defensive weaknesses if he just knew what to do with it.

I'm sure that they'll honor Haywood's veteran experience & seniority as a reason why he must start. Not to mention, he hasn't done much to lose his starting gig yet. I can see the injury bug kicking in for Haywood fairly early into the season, and most certainly before Christmas. The lineup of "Kemba/BG/MKG/Tyrus/Mully" that you presented will give this team the most versatility and the opportunity to score in spurts. All I know is that these slow starts to the 1st & 3rd quarters must stop, and the only constant with that impediment since last season is Hendo.

I think this is pretty close to what we can expect in the regular season. I think Sessions will score closer to 10ppg rather than 14. Still no word on who's starting yet?
investigate Adam Silver

HC #MikeDunlap told media @KembaWalker @GhJr09 @MikeGillie14 #ByronMullens & #BrendanHaywood will start Opening Night #NBA #CatsPacers

It look like Kemba won the starting job, at least for the season opener.

Re: Kemba Walker vs Ramon Sessions
I am officially depressed we have this thread. One day we will end up with a clear cut starting PG that's not debatable if their backup should start over them or not. One day. Apparently that day is not now though. KAHHHNNNNNNNNNNNN! (it feels like we have Kahn, sorry)

Re: Kemba Walker vs Ramon Sessions
I'm depressed that we have a thread regarding the position battle of what may very well be the strongest position of the team. If anything, we should be debating every other position since those are where the most glaring holes are. You rebuild from the bottom up, not top to bottom, and theoretically we are only tearing this team down by doing this.

Re: Kemba Walker vs Ramon Sessions
typically point guard battles are more heated because most cases point guards cannot effectively play multiple positions. hendo vs gordon, doesnt have the same importance because those two players will most likely spend a lot of time on the floor together, same as mully and biz.
we are lucky that sessions has the size to play sg, so its not always going to be one or the other like it was with dj and kemba.
also, point guards are leaders and quarterbacks of the team. it doesn't usually work to have two point guards splitting minutes 50/50. eventually one will rise above the other and the team will function better with one on the court compared to the other.
i think we are all rooting for kemba to be the winner long term because he has more upside and because of what we invested to get him. however, i dont think any of us would be surprised of sessions came out on top in the long run either.
the reason and intention for this thread was not to start controversy between the two. it was realizing the inevitability of the debate (having gone through this with knight, felton, mcinnis, dj and augustin in the past). if you dont have a dedicated place to discuss the two point guards you end up with the debate spilling over into just about every thread on the board and that is not a good thing.
