Myth: Just call up kids from the minor leagues, they have to do better.
Reality: OK, like who? The best hitter at Scranton is Shelley Duncan, who has 12 homers and 31 RBI in 44 games but also 35 strikeouts. Spring training masher Bronson Sardinha is hitting .213. Scranton

Hey NYKnstill, there is news about your boy.
Among others.

Zach McAllister</A></b> was just spectacular on the mound on Tuesday. His demeanor on the mound was full of confidence and his outing was proof of that. He pitched four strong innings, throwing only 44 pitches, 32 of which were for strikes. He gave up one run on two hits. He pitched to contact as he only had one strikeout without issuing a walk. In the first inning he gave up a lead off single into left field and then allowed a stolen base. After getting two groundouts to second base, the run ended up scoring, but that would be all the Phillies would muster off of him. He had a 1-2-3 second inning, getting a pop-out and two more groundouts to second base. He showed a terrific two-seam fastball, getting five outs on the ground. He also had a 1-2-3 third inning which included his only strikeout of the day, getting the batter looking on a nasty changeup. He would give up one more hit in the fourth inning but got two fly-outs and a groundout to end his day.<br>
Jesus Montero</A></b> had one hit but made that hit count as it scored two runs. In the second inning he struck out looking with no argument from him. The pitch froze him and as soon as the ball crossed the plate he already knew that he was out. He lined out hard to second base in the fifth inning and then singled in two runs with a line drive to left field.<br>
Prilys Cuello</A></b> hit the ball hard in each of his three at-bats but only managed one hit. He grounded out to the first baseman in the third inning but hit the ball right on the button in the sixth when he scolded a line drive right into the centerfielder's glove. In the ninth he singled on a groundball to centerfield.<br>
Abraham Almonte</A></b> did not have much luck at the plate on Tuesday. He went 0 for 3 but did show some good plate coverage as worked into deep counts by fouling off many pitches. He led off the game by grounding out to second base after working the count full. In the fourth inning he struck out looking on a pitch that came back across the plate to catch the inside corner. In his last at-bat of the day he flew out to left field in the seventh inning.<br>
Carlos Urena</A></b> looked overmatched at the plate on Tuesday. He went hitless with two strikeouts, both of which were swinging. In the second inning he hit a fly ball to shallow centerfield and then struck out in his last two at-bats. In the fifth inning he struck out on a high fastball that he could not catch up with and in the eighth inning he struck out with the tying run on second base to end the inning.<br>

Every time you think Eric Duncan is dead, he revives himself. Today he went 2 for 3 with 2 HRs, 2 runs, and 3 RBI. His average is up to .252.

that's exactly why I wanted that deal you sell Abreu or Damon as quick as you can, you land a lefty that can go 7 innings and pitches well vs the AL, add to that he's an insurance incase Clemens or Clipp or Hughes or Moose don't work out

Trade two starters (even though they aren't playing that well right now) for an insurance policy??? And who could've foreseen Hughes being out until August? You never once posted that Hughes would twist an ankle and besides -- Clemens starts on Monday. Worry about the lineup thesedays guys. The pitching has held up more than people realize.

OFF THE SUBJECT FOR A FEW
no I clearly did say that we needed insurance SP just incase and also Noah would be signed cheap and he has Pettitte like stuff.
this was your take Reggie:
I wasn't high on trading Melky still I rather not , I'd trade Abreu or Damon in a heartbeat, Moose has not panned out well for us he can't even pitch past 6 innings and is so anal Lowry young cheap a good 2nd half pitcher now Hughes is down Desalvo is garbage I don't know why everyone is so high on him, Clipp needs more tuning but I love his command and we'd get a a # 2 - 3 SP LHP for the next few years in his mid 20's.

I still have Lowry on that want list, your arguement is keep a 33 year old Abreu who is shaky because he helps the offense , my arguement if Abreu keeps having 0 fors w/ RISP his trade stock will just collapse before we get the chance to upgrade. I stand by what I say Sanchez and Lowry alone make this deal worth it.
this was your take Reggie:
Alright let's look at it this way. Say we trade Abreu for Lowry and Linden. Can Linden be good enough to be a 4th OF? I don't know. So far he hasn't shown anything at this level. Who's spot is Lowry taking by the way? Rocket, Clemens, Wang, Moose, and when he returns Hughes aren't going anywhere regardless if any of us think Lowry is a better choice than one of those guys. We have Henn, Myers, and hopefully Igawa to be our lefties in the bullpen. I'm not trading someone with the potential of Abreu(based on last year so far) for someone who will be a long reliever on this team.
Offseason? Yea. I'll trade for the dude. But Melky will turn it around and be that formidable 4th OF. Write it down.

Yankees Sign Tim Dennehy
By Staff
Posted May 31, 2007
With the deadline for signing Draft-and-Follows passing on Wednesday night, when the dust settled the Yankees single signing came in the form of left-handed pitcher Tim Dennehy, who was drafted in the 26th round out of Chandler Gilbert Community College last season.
He posted a 1.48 ERA in 13 games for Chandler Gilbert this past season and struck out 79 batters in 85 innings before turning down a scholarship offer to go to the University of Tennessee to sign with the Yankees
CHRIS BRITTON READY FOR THE 'BIGS'
by Dan LaTorraca
Reliever Chris Britton has dominated
the International League with his
tremendous fastball and curve
combination this season, posting an
earned run average of 0.78 with Triple-
A Scranton. With several members of
the New York Yankees' pitching staff
struggling, he may be the key
component to get the Yankees' bullpen
back on track.

At the time when you quoted me I wasn't under the impression that Hughes would be out until August.
