Sad to see Temple go. His shooting was a surprise to me, and he took care of the ball seemingly better than anyone in preseason. As Mars said, the writing was on the wall when Rio came back. That was Temple's ticket, Rio's injury. The disparity in his and Harris' ability was never enough to offset loyalty/familiarity on its own. Harris can be a pretty nice bench player in the future if he tightens his game up. His athleticism will compliment our aging wings, and he can shoot well, especially if he stops leaning.

The Heat waived Garrett Temple. Roster now at regular-season maximum of 15. Means Terrel Harris, Josh Harrellson, Pittman, Jones on roster.

Miami HEAT ‏@MiamiHEAT
OFFICIAL: Garrett Temple has been waived. The @MiamiHEAT roster now stands at 15.

Mario Chalmers/Norris Cole/Terrel Harris
Dwyane Wade/Ray Allen/Mike Miller
LeBron James/Rashard Lewis/James Jones
Shane Battier/Udonis Haslem
Chris Bosh/Josh Harrellson/Joel Anthony/Dexter Pittman

Mind if I fix this a little?

Chalmers/Cole
Wade/Allen/Harris
James/Miller/Jones
Battier/Lewis
Bosh/Haslem/Harrellson/Anthony/Pittman

Based on where they'll mostly play.

Pretty cool we dropped Turiaf (barely played down the stretch), Howard (useless since day 1 here), and Curry (no comment necessary), for 3 guys who could potentially join the rotation (Allen, Lewis, Harrellson). Not often champs do that.

Of note: Ray Allen said he taught Norris Cole what plus-minus was last night.

How can u play in the **** NBA and NOT know that....haha

That's hilarious! Here's the question: How can you play in the NBA, for Erik Spoelstra, NEXT TO SHANE BATTIER, and not know what +/- is? I wonder what he thought those numbers meant when he read boxscores.

Shane taught LeBron about PPP and all that fun stuff. Love having intellectual players like Shane and Ray around to teach the other guys and use knowledge to maximize their skill. The game is getting more and more cerebral, and we have the players to take advantage. Bosh has a high intellect, too, but I get the feeling he doesn't apply it to basketball analytics.

Anyone know much about Josh Powell? The bball world was sure the Spurs would keep him, but they waived him. 6-9 athletic PF who can rebound well. His per36 numbers look pretty good. I'd feel a little more comfortable with one more rebounder over Jones or Pitt.

Yea..he's not worth the hustle.

The only scenario i see us making a move and cuting or movimng guys during the season is if we can get a proven guy, probably a vetren, that we know for sure is a short term upgrade for what we give up.

No doubt..i totally feel we're gonna benefit from that. Shane i have no doubt already helped behind the secens last year. as did Juwan. I believe Ray will have a similar effect, there arn't many guys around with his experience and work ethic..and those things rub off on the guys around. we're just getting smarter, savvier.

Now that Terrell is safe, I go back to what I was saying during the offseason. Ray can really help his game, too. Terrell seems to be an above-average natural shooter, but has inconsistent mechanics, sometimes going up leaning crooked, even when spotting up or pulling up wide open. With his fluid athleticism, size, and skillset, I'm sure Ray sees a poorman's version of himself in him and knows where he can help him. I remember our first game against Boston's Big 3, when a rookie Daequan had that steal and dunk on Posey. Afterward Ray had a lot of nice things to say to and about Cook, and said he reminded him of a younger version of himself. Terrell is a similar kind of player, though obviously not as talented.

Saturday, October 27th, 2012: When Jesus Met Noah

You could say it was love at first sight.

Following the Heat's practice on Saturday, Heat assistant coach Keith Askins introduced Ray Allen to a talking black box on the wall named "Noah."

Noah is a shooter's best friend. The technology tracks a player's shooting arc as the player goes through drills and logs it into its computer for post-workout analysis. Not only that, the machine provides instant verbal feedback, shouting out the exact angle at which the shot is projected off the player's hand.

"That machine’s going to keep me around for 10 more years," Allen said. "I didn’t know it was here. I’ll definitely use it everyday."

"Just tryin to figure out how to get bigger arc in my shot, how to get my legs involved, to get better lift on it, to get the ball getting a better angle on it into the air."

It's on now. JJ loves that thing.
