Harden Traded to the Rockets!

Post#1 » by Vator » Sun Oct 28, 2012 2:54 am

Splash!

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--thund ... 81909.html

The Rockets sent Kevin Martin, Jeremy Lamb and future draft considerations to the Thunder for Harden, Cole Aldridge, Lazr Hayward and Daquan Cook.

Edit: Oklahoma City will receive a protected first-round pick from Toronto in 2013, a pick the Raptors sent Houston in the Kyle Lowry trade, as well as a protected 2013 first-round pick from Dallas, which the Rockets received from the Lakers in last year’s Derek Fisher trade.

The second-round pick is 2013 selection belonging to Charlotte. Houston acquired it from Boston in the Courtney Lee trade. It’s the same pick the NBA recently forced the Thunder to convey to the Celtics as compensation for Jeff Green missing the entire 2011-12 season with a heart condition.

Per ESPN:

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/85628 ... on-rockets

The Oklahoma City Thunder have traded James Harden, Daequan Cook, Lazar Hayward and Cole Aldrich to the Houston Rockets for Jeremy Lamb, Kevin Martin and future draft picks, a source told ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard.

The Thunder were unable to come to terms with their star swingman Harden on a contract extension and chose to break up their star trio of Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and Harden.

I did not see this coming!

Well...we've all been wondering if the Rockets would make any more moves before the season!

Nice trade.

3 players in 2 out, I thought you guys already had like 18 guys on the roster... perhaps more trades ahead ?

Sorry guys I feel bad for you. I'm not trolling as I believed Harden is overrated for several years now. His main trait is his efficiency, and without two top 10 players, that will plummet so fast he will be just like a Kevin Martin. Their defence is both equally terrible. The guy you traded in this deal along with your young studs in Lamb (who I thought would be your future) and the Raptors pick. Not trying to rain on your parade but just how I feel.

Trade Lamb, Toronto pick just to have a chance to pay Harden max money.

I dont like this trade for Houston imo.

Although they got rid of Kevin Martin they lost Jermey Lamb who I think will be a great NBA player who hasnt had the slightest chance to prove him self yet.

Houston gets Harden who has been a great sixth man because he has been the first option off the bench.

If you plan to start Harden you wont get the same production out of him unless you make him the first option.

And even if he is made the first option it seems he needs the ball to produce. What will Lin do?

Also there are a few things to consider about Harden.

1. His finals/playoff performance
2. Flop rule
3. Need to control the ball

Your team has two pass first PGS in Lin and Machado. Which doesnt suit Harden well since he needs the ball. Harden is a good passer but if he controls the ball what will Machado and Lin do since they arent the best at scoring?

Anyways there all sorts of factors for why im not high on Harden. I may not explain myself well....But I dont think he will be the same Harden as you saw in OKC. And I think losing Jermey Lamb is a big loss.

Well anyways thats my short ramble.

Lin / Livingston / Machado
Harden / Douglas?
Parsons / Delfino
Patterson / Jones / Motiejunas
Asik / Smith

What will happen with Morris & White? I think D-League for the latter, but no idea with the former.

No need to cry about trading draft picks. The Toronto pick was a nice chip, but the Dallas pick was meh. We have enough young first round draft pick prospects on this team. Morey stockpiled these picks to trade them for a proven commodity! Fact. I like Lamb too, but I doubt he'll ever be a better player than Harden. I think this trade is good for both teams actually. Martin will be good with the Thunder because he is a knock down shooter and he will get plenty of open looks, but we all know he wasn't going to be a Rocket next year. They can develop Lamb around Durant and Westbrook and plus they get picks. Win win.

So I just got home to read this, and my cousin called me to tell me about a minute later. He said losing Lamb hurts, but at least they didn't trade Royce White. To be honest, I don't know who either of them are or if losing White would have been worse.

Given my ignorance of the current state of the Rockets' roster I'm against this trade. They gave up the Toronto pick which was going to be a lottery pick. There's a good chance they won't be drafting anyone better than Harden with it, but I'm not convinced James Harden is worth max money.

Can't believe some of you are against this. Coming from a Philly fan you guys got a great deal. You have to take that because the value is great. The only thing is, it would be SO funny if because of the KMart expiring, the Thunder use their newfound 14 million next year to sign Harden back. lol

Idk I wouldnt be so postive on Harden yet...Until we see him play in a Rocket uniform.

All though what I can say is I am more interested in the Rockets now. Harden and Lin both trying to prove themselves on a new team? Im down.
