Apparently, OKC gets a number of future picks in the deal. Its a good deal for OKC IMO. Martin makes a fin substitute (he's a great shooter who gets to the line and will be fine as a #3 scorer for them). Lamb is a good fit as a natural successor. I'm betting OKC gets that future Toronto pick certainly.

The Oklahoma City Thunder have traded James Harden to the Houston Rockets, according to sources.

The Rockets will send Kevin Martin, Jeremy Lamb and future pick considerations for Harden, Cole Aldrich, Lazar Hayward and Daequan Cook.

The Thunder ripped the Rockets a new one with this deal. That is a ton for James Harden.

Lamb, future pick considerations, and this year of Kevin Martin! Wow.

My first impression is that is probably as good as the Thunder could get, assuming OKC also packaged the contract of Kendrick Perkins in the deal.

That deal might not set the Thunder back at all. Lamb is a pure scorer and so is Kevin Martin.

CCJ, Perkins isn't in the deal. However, he can (and will) be amnestied when OKC feels they don't need him anymore. The future picks allow OKC more flexibility in the future. Durant was never being traded. Westbrook was the best player in the finals. Harden was the one who was most expendable.

That's ... not what you expect to hear a couple of days before the season starts.

Yep, I edited my first impression, mhd.

I love what OKC did. They have Kevin Martin, Jeremy Lamb, Perry Jones III, and future pick considerations moving forward. Not a bad way to get over Harden. I like it for them. Not sure, but I assume Harden is a great player who will resign with Houston for the max deal.

PJ3 is gonna get some serious burn this season now that Cook is gone! Now that I think about it, Lamb, Maynor, KMart and PJ3 coming off the bench aint bad at all!

Wow!!!

Ok, so add Houston to the teams that have rebuilt faster than us.

Where's Landry Fields to save us?

Did OKC get Toronto's pick out of this too?? If so, this is robbery for them. Presti ain't playing around

Speaking of the Wizards, this deal makes me think the Wizards should watch very closely to see how well Kevin Martin fits with the Thunder. They desperately want to win it all this season. They're going to know real soon if Martin is a good fit.

Martin is on an expiring deal and I think this trade just made it MORE POSSIBLE to move Nene or Okafor to OKC around the deadline.

Either of the bigs are an upgrade over Kendrick Perkins. So is Kevin Seraphin.

It is a conditional pick. If Toronto MAKES the playoffs, OKC doesn't get the pick, if what I read is true.

Presti is a boss. I truly wish he were Wizards GM. He and Darryl Morey of Houston don't mess around.

(I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to see Ted show some spine and fire EG in order to steal Presti's Asst. GM, Troy Weaver. That guy drafted Harden and had to be in on this. I bet he sold them on Jeremy Lamb as a successor to James Harden).

And Morey finally gets his consolidation trade. Not bad for OKC, but it carries a lot of risk. I think they kept the wrong person (Ibaka), and maybe would have been better off keeping Harden and moving Westbrook.

Yet another example of how crappy the Okafor/Ariza trade was by comparison with what other teams can do. We easily could have traded for Harden, possibly even without giving up Beal if we'd kept doing BOYDs or offered to take back Perkins.

Perry Jones made this viable. Kid is the real deal.

What an amazing trade by Presti, have always thought Harden was more of a 3rd option product of OKC. Harden is the #1 option now in Houston. Will be painful for the kid.

That being said, Lin is thanking the Gods to not be the #1 in HOU.

Rockets just got fleeced. Harden isn't a max player and he isn't a #1 option. He'll be exposed in Houston.

This might hurt OKC for this season in terms of making the finals, but going forward it's a huge win.

I am much less positive about this trade for OKC. Lamb does not impress me as a future star in this league. His game reminds me of Nick Young, and I don't understand the need to add a Young-like player to a team with the best iso shooter in the league, Durant.

They lose a lot of playmaking and passing and are forced to rely more for both on Westbrook. I think they become a less balanced team and are going to rely more on shooting than getting FTs and breaking down the defense.
