OT: Harden traded for K Martin and Lamb

Post#1 » by fatlever » Sun Oct 28, 2012 3:09 am

WOW.

i guess the thunder had no interest in giving harden that extra 8 mil. i actually like this trade for the thunder. martin's deal is short and by the time he is gone they could potentially have lamb playing at a high level for cheap.

if the rockets can get harden to agree on the extension, its a solid trade for the rockets i think. plus, they freed up a roster spot so now they only have to cut 2 players instead of three.

brave move from the thunder though. big balls on that one.

Not only do the Thunder get their SG of the future in Jeremy Lamb, but they replace Harden's scoring off the bench with Kevin Martin, and they get 2013 1st round picks from the Raptors & Mavericks. That's almost highway robbery.

What's worth more, the extra 8 million James Harden will get from Houston, or contending for a championship for the team that drafted him?

I'm sorry, but whoever is running the Rockets basketball operations is a moron. First, they overpay Omer Asik. Second, they overpay Jeremy Lin. Now, this?!?

P.S. Daryl Morey should read DERELICT MORON

i love this aspect of the trade. i am happy that the thunder didnt get trapped into overpaying for a player. they drew the line in the sand and when harden called their bluff, they said **** you buddy, have fun in rebuilding houston.

harden will now end up as a #1 option for houston or another fringe team that overpays for him this summer (like the bobcats). he'll put up some stats but he'll be sitting on the couch in may watching kevin martin and jeremy lamb get all the glory being the 3rd option on a stacked team.

@NBA_All_Access: Sources say, Houston will offer James Harden the max contract extension he was seeking from OKC before Wednesday's extension deadline. :o

@WojYahooNBA: Houston plans to give James Harden a four year, $60 million extension once deal is completed, league sources tell Y! Sports.

No more 6th man stuff!

James Harden wouldn't give up six million dollars to stay on a perennial contender? :o

Props to OKC... wow.... they have no excuse to score less 120+ a game, and have now secured themselves as the front-runner this year and for many to come

The Thunder did it right. Jeremy Lamb is young and Kevin Martin is a proven scorer. Along with 2 draft picks that could be good assets in the years to come. Why pay all that money and lock up your team financially, when you could just trade him for multiple players and trading chips for the future.

I'm so happy with this trade. Lamb is going to be nasty with that team as the 6th man in a couple of years

Honestly I think for Harden it came down to believing he could be an all star SG and wanting to make his mark. it was not going to happen on OKC. He will now be the focal point of that offense and will have a shot at being more than 6th man of the year, while still being on a franchise that is committed to getting better and winning.

Lamb will be the starting SG in a couple of years, if not next year.

Kevin Martin's career averages are higher than James Hardens' career high!!! and then you throw in losing a future stud like Jeremy Lamb!!! and then you throw in losing a two future 1st round draft picks, one from a lottery dwelling team like the Raptors and another from a declining Mavericks team!!! The Rockets got raped!!!

Does anyone think this trade make Houston better now or in the long term? I really don't think it makes them close to a playoff team. I guess they can tank this year and get a top 3 pick.

We'll get to see how Harden does when not playing with two ridiculously good players. My bet is that is not good.

Talent level wise, Kevin Martin is not too far off from where Harden is now unless Harden still has untapped potential that the Rockets see in him. Both are great shooters while Harden is the better all around player. The knock with Harden was that teams had game plan against him but it was mostly bench players executing those game plans. Harden didn't had to go against most starters of every NBA team.
