Lin produced on the court. The hype was deserved for what he did do during that time. It's not like he was putting up mediocre stats and losing games and getting undeserved attention for his ethnicity or something.
He wasn't just playing well he was breaking all-time records as well as winning. Dropping 38 on the Lakers. 28/14 on Dallas hitting shots in Dirk's face, etc.
Also that myth that Miami "exposed" him just irritates me. Do people forget his games AFTER that game where he played very well? If he was "exposed" then why didn't other teams simply shut him down like Miami did since according to most the magic formula to stopping him was figured out?
19/13 vs Cleveland the very next game
20/13 vs Milwaukee
19/7/6 vs Indiana
18/10 vs Toronto
18/4 vs Philly - 16 points in the 4th quarter
Not to mention it's likely he was playing with a meniscus tear for the latter half of the games last year.
Jealousy? Seriously? Why would DWill be jealous of Lin? No reason at all. You don't think that players know who the best are in every league?
Lin produced on a very high level for two weeks. Then Linsanity was over. You need to look more deeply into numbers of the games you've noted. His shooting % dropped from about .530 during Linsanity to about .420 in essentially one month.
That means he was putting up points, but much less efficiently.
We'll see what happens this year. With Lin and Harden on the same team, there'll be a game-by-game analysis on how they do on their own.
i could buy the jealousy angle. jeremy lin got more exposure/attention from his play last season than someone like deron williams has gotten in his entire career.

Plus the endorsements.
Playing much of his career in Utah didnt help Williams in either the department (fame/popularity and endorsement $s)

How does that make you better than the Lin, Gallo, and Wil fans who root for them over NY?

he is. Jeremy Lin you could tell by the way he played he was a just a 1 hit wonder.
Raymond Felton on the other hand is just fat, he needs to lose a few pounds so he can be productive like his first year with the Knicks.

Felton is in NBA longer so career wise he is better. Next season only time will tell

yeah d will felton is better than lin. last year felton was garbage and no one mentioned his name. no one was watching the game he got shut down by miami last year. everyone focuses on lin, they watch his games and get his views up. they forgot to watch felton get tossed like a rag doll by miami.

Who cares what D-Will says. Who died and made him a talent scout? Don't believe everything he says. D-Will also thinks Joe Johnson is better than Dirk.

No, he really didn't. He went from playing like garbage to less-crappy.

Re: D-Will: Felton better PG than Lin
Neither point guard is really very good.
Lin is an average to slightly above average starting point guard.
Felton is horrible, out of shape, inefficient and hasn't really done anything notable in his career outside of D'Antoni's system, which has inflated the numbers of pretty much every single point guard who has played in it. He's terrible for the system woodson runs.
If either one is one of your 4 best players then you're not going to have a very good team unless you're built in the "big 3" style or have 2 huge stars on your team in addition to either one.

truth serum wrote:Forget Lin. Felton will prove this year he is one of the better PGs in the NBA. I like coach Woodson for him. He plays defense, can push the ball, get in the lane, make plays for his teammates, shoot it a little bit from the outside and mid-range.... tough minded player. Has a chip on his shoulder and seems to be in great shape. Deron Williams has respect for Ray with good reason. I like Lin but I don't love him. He's not a Knick anymore. Being realistic about the situation, he has a lot to prove before people say he's a better player than Felton, despite Felton's down year with Portland in '12. As a Knicks fan, I'm really excited and pleased to have Felton on the team. Kidd and Prigs off the bench, the Knicks are more than fine at the PG position. Could be their strongest position considering all 3 guys can contribute and play the 1 the way it's meant to be played.
Prigs looks like a diamond in the rough, but he's what like 35 years old? He can be a decent bench player next year, but if Felton/Kidd/Prigs represents your strongest position than you guys are screwed, none of them are even better than average as a starter. Luckily it isn't your strongest position, SF or Center is just by merit of Chandler and Anthony.

No. It was more than 2 weeks; almost 2 months from early Feb to late Mar before he got injured. Not surprisingly, he started to tail off after Melo came back.
By "jealousy" he was probably referring to DWill always flies under the media radar never getting much attention. Lin got more attention in those 2 months than DWill has had in his career. I'm not saying DWill should be jealous, but if there was jealousy, that'd be it.

What a moron. Felton bashes your team for talking too much trash, then you go and praise him back. I guess it's easy to hate on the Asian guy that stomped your team and became famous because it. Lin has been nothing but classy.
Shut up and worry about your own team.

Re: D-Will: Felton better PG than Lin
I'm a huge Lin fan but I don't see anything wrong with what Williams said, and I feel a little bit inclined to agree. Lin has fantastic court vision but his "point guard" instincts are not nearly up to par. Felton's been dogged on the past couple of years for being fat but he's not that bad of a point guard.

dunleavyjr wrote::lol: Deron's Nets will again be a lottery team this season. Trust me.
This is what they call a red herring folks, nothing to do with what D-Will said. Whether or not Felton bashed his own team has nothing to with it either.
Scenario 1: Felton praises nets.
Scenario 2(what actually happened): Felton bags on Nets.
Either way, it doesn't change his ability as a PG...why the HECK would Dwill base his opinion on what someone says to the media? Some of the people on this board...
Imo Lin still has a lot to prove. He has to prove he can play well over a longer period of time, and that his run wasn't just a hot streak.

Deron Williams isn't exactly the guy I would trust on his opinion of talented players.

Hot streaks last 5-10 games. Lin won 16 out of 26 games for the Knicks. 8 out of 9 without Melo.

i guess some forget, linsanity started with jeremy lin breakout game on deron william's defense.
also the next net and knick game, Deron went ham on the knicks as if he wanted to make a point.. I'm sure Dwill
hasn't forgotten jeremy lin torching him though.
