hey i said this deal is better than getting gordon
so i am rating hardon over gordon
i still hate this deal
i don't care if he is the best sg in 2 years
he's still not the top 20 player
same for dwight howard
best center i don't care
he's still not top 5
Max. Your logic makes no sense to me.
If I'm reading what you wrote there correctly, neither the best SG in the league, NOR the best C in the league are top 20 players overall? I can agree that he's probably not top 5... and Dwight wasn't top 5 last year either. Harden might be top 10 though, and is definitely top 15.
Kevin Martin was maybe in his peak season near a top 5
shooting guard, but he was never even remotely considered one of the top players in the league. Harden is top 20 easily, almost certainly top 15, and maybe top 10 (he's not top 5, though). The
biggest thing Harden does is lets us finally get over the hump of having our talent distributed between too many players We had good talent at 1-11 for the last several years, but in order to really be good in the NBA, it has to be distributed from 1-7 with most of it sitting in 2-4 players, typically with an average age of under 29-30. We're halfway there now! We made it over the hump! This is the single biggest event we've had since our team started to dessicate slightly in 2006-2007 under the weight of Howard/McGrady/Ming/Battier/Alston/Sura's contracts (who took up pretty much all of our cap), then from 2007-2008 onward in the form of key injuries! And our foundation players are all under 23!!!!

Kevin Martin... & Lowry & Dalembert & Scola & Lee
- Lowry was replaced by Lin, but was definitely the biggest hit there. I don't think Lin will be as good as Lowry, but it's not impossible. Lowry was always pretty good for us, but he didn't get to be
very good until last year (age 26).
- Dalembert was very good last year, and was on a good contract, but is turning 32 this year and may be older than reported, per Haitian tradition. Dalembert's production should be easily replaced by Asik, who is also 5 years younger and thus capable of being built around.
- Lee is replaceable utility player who was respectably above average at age 27 (i.e. peaked and about to start slowly declining until 30).
- Martin's value as an above average player was more than offset by how overpaid he was.
- Scola wasn't the same last year after his knee injury, and at 32 probably won't fully recover to his previous levels. (very good, just under all-star level PF)
It was actually GOOD for us to get out from under Scola and Martin's contract, those two values alone being able to justify losing Dalembert's value. Dalembert/Camby and Lowry are mostly offset by our two new acquisitions (moreso Dalembert than Lowry), and Lee is a commonly skilled player.
I quite frankly couldn't care less about the draft pick at this point.
Z3, for your question...

I want to absolutely see this team destroy the league after all the recent twitter comments from NBA players/fans imply Houston is pretty much the the worst franchise in the league.
I wrote this a bit earlier.

A run at Faried or Anderson might could work out. We could conceivably get Ersan Ilyasova. It's not un-possible we could get Brandan Wright. I'd wet myself in public if we somehow managed to get Noah. I wouldn't be upset if we got Balkman. There are plenty of other options better than a name-player/big-time-scorer type that we could likely even get at a lower cost.
Good value players with high efficiency. No "stars" outside of Noah and maybe Faried, but they'd definitely make us nasty.
