these guys should be set for our future Harden, Lin, Asik, Parsons....all the other guys could be traded.

So I'm a little late to the party but I like the trade. It's starting to feel like a season I can get excited about again. We don't really know how steep a price we paid until we see where that TOR pick ends up. I liked Lamb but Harden is a beast. I don't feel the other pieces will be of much consequence.

Also I think people are harping on the whether Harden is a franchise player or not. There are only so many Lebron James out there. Harden is in my mind a max contract player, so you get value there. He's also very young, so not only is the upside there the contract will most likely be easily tradable throughout its lifetime as he'll be hitting his prime at the end of it. I think this will also help our FA aquisition efforts next off-season immensely. I also don't see the Asik/Lin contracts that burdensome. They are only 3 years a piece and likely still tradable contracts as I believe if traded they will only count at the ~8m/year salary cap hit. I think both will live up to their contracts barring injuries. That is biggest concern IMO, we don't know how Lin's body will hold up for a whole season.

Actually I would say harden is the only untradeable. if you could package Asik, one of your PF's and a pick for Bynum, Cousins, or a young big on that level, then you do it. Same for Lin and an elite point guard or small forward. harden is the only elite level player on the Rockets right now. You need at least one more with good pieces around them, preferably 3 nowadays.

I'd rather have Asik than Bynum by FAR, but if another big showed up that was somehow better than him, a package isn't out of the question. The problem there is that there isn't anyone that really fits that criteria in the league, and likely won't be until Asik's value is somewhat reduced (in 2-4 years at age 28-30).
Bynum is only 25... but he's a prick (sorry, I meant dickweasel), injury prone, and just can't be counted on.

As for Lin, Remember, Morey has the affections of China, and won't risk it for any short term moves, even big ones. It can't work out well.

I used to be high on Morey but IMO he is turning more and more into Isiah Thomas. Not meaning to troll but I almost split my coffee after reading that Harden received a 5year/80mill. contract. 16mill. per year for a guy that hasn't proven anything as a starter in terms of leading a team and has never been a good defender?Wow. Morey has committed 140mill. to a trio of Lin/Asik and Harden......Good luck guys, you'll need it.
Even if you'll be able to sign a top FA in the summer (Josh Smith etc.) I don't see how Houston would be anything more than a very low (7th/8th) playoff seed and first round out.

Lowry/Dragic could be had for like one third the price of Lin/Harden and I'm not even sure if Lin/Harden ain't worse....

Man. I don't normally get to say "I told you so" on my stances here (since they're usually either not obvious or mitigated by stupid random crap), so for once, even though it's still statistically insignificant, I'm going to have to lead off with ...

if Houston can make a move for a decent PF next, you guys can make some serious noise.

with a stable full of young talent (Patterson, Morris, Motie, White, Jones) you could surely package 1 or 2 of those guys for a guy like Jefferson or Millsap, then you'll be able to run with most teams (that don't have 3+ HOF talents).

heck, even a small deal like Patterson for JJ Hickson would give you guys a legit and consistent lowpost threat.

Great debut by Harden. Lin looked solid as well. Asik did not have much of an impact on defense (at least that's how I felt).

It was against Detroit and I thought Harden had a bunch of very easy drives to the basket...still not sold but it is sure fun watching a Harden/Lin backcourt.

I would never ever trade for Bynum...he has a chronic knee issue...will get worse when he gets older and gains weight....i can see why Orlando wasn't interested in him.

Lin and Asik aren't going to be traded...Parsons is gonna be a Rocket for a few more years at least until his 1st big contract comes up...we'll see.

Depending on how TJones or Dmo does this season, we might end up not pursuing another max contract...

Yeah, I can totally see Arron Afflalo making more sense than ..

No. Howard for Afflalo has still got to be one of the dumbest trades in league history.
There's just no other way to slice it.

Maybe not for Bynum, but geez. Almost literally anything else would've been just as good or better.
