Just looked it up, doesn't sound so serious, but it does sound like a pain tolerance issue and something that can limit his quickness and overall mobility.

I remember an interview with Deron a few years back, his last full season with the Jazz where he told the reporter his ankle would never be the same, that it was going to be a chronic issue he would have to deal with his whole career and life, that it would never be 100% again.

Oh well.

Yet he continues to wear low tops.

Meh...on the face of it I agree with ya. As someone who has read way too much about ankle injuries and shoes (I'm pretty sure the official term for my ankles is 'papier-mache'...any worse, they become 'Stefan Curry-esque') the low-top thing might not be as big a factor as I always assumed. More important if his shoes fit well (which you'd hope!) and have effective heel-countering, etc.

Again, just due to my own situation, I'm constantly surprised by the shoe choices pro-athletes make.

I have exactly the same problem with bone spurs, they are very common in soccer players.

Basically it's wear and tear on the ankle joint with tiny bits of bone floating around your ankle and its really not painful at all.

Back in my playing days I would get an injection and all would be fine, if I turned my ankle badly I'd feel it ten times more and then get another injection.

It's really easy to manage as an injury and if you don't have this problem in high level sports your an exception and not the rule.

Good to hear that. Just hope he doesn't re injure and it turns into something worse.
