Will Kirilenko's number be retired eventually?

Post#1 » by DiscoLives4ever » Fri Nov 2, 2012 10:26 pm

I was just looking through some all-time Jazz numbers, and didn't realize how highly ranked Andrei was in some places (total all-time with the franchise).

6th in Points
5th in Minutes Played and Assists
4th in Steals
2nd in Blocks
3 All-Defensive Team selections (1 First Team, 2 Second Team)
Rookie First Team

He seems to have a strong enough resume, thoughts on his number possibly being retired by the team eventually?

prolly not, but if he comes back and retires from here, then probably. he kind of played the role of big T when he was playing, but a little better.

I think that the 03-04 season itself was enough to get his jersey retired. It's sad to imagine how good he would have been without injuries.

I don't think so. Maybe if Larry and his emotional attachment to players was still around he would have a better shot but I don't picture him having the same impact as the other guys who have had their numbers retired.

No way his number is retired. If he had lead the Jazz to something, I would say yes. But he did jack here and then left. Had he played his whole career here, then probably yes. But he played hard, got a huge contract and then went and played world of warcraft and the Jazz suffered. Then jumped ship afterwards to the TWolves. Jazz ever retired his number, I would end being a Jazz fan.
The "Spanish Fly" came and went.

I think Jazz has too much jerseys retired without any ring.

Malone, Stockton are no brainers.

Eaton, Maravich and Dantley seems right.

Hornacek and Griffith are questionable.

Then, I agree with having in the stands a jersey (or whatever) in memory of Miller and Layden, but I don't think is needed to have one number retired for them, due to they didn't play.

9 retired numbers are too much.
For example Lakers have only 7, Bulls only 4 (plus two "empty" jerseys in Coach Jackson and GM Krause)

If Hornacek, Eaton and Griffith get it I think we can spare use of effin number 47.

Yeah, but we can't be retiring every number for players who waste 10 years for us.... What's next? Ostertag? Russell?

I know AK is above of them, but we have to raise our level or we'll be the team with more retired numbers withour any ring.
