Mickael Pietrus
Doesn't it seem like this guy would be perfect for this team, with this offense. He has a good stroke from range, and can defend either wing position. He's fairly young, and he's pretty athletic, as well. Moreover, he wouldn't have the mental lapses, or the distasteful/deluded desire for an expanded role, like World Peace does. This guy would be perfect, either as a reserve player, or as a starter. I doubt we'll add anyone, though.
Leandro Barbosa would've been perfect for our bench, too. I don't believe there's any point in discussing what cannot be changed, but, this bench desperately needs someone who can get into the lane, and create their own shot. Mike Brown has a habit of substituting all of the starters, except one, at once. With Bryant and Nash on the bench, someone like Barbosa would've been ideal. It's not like anyone who's currently on the bench can create for others-- Why not have someone who can create for himself? Any other free agents out there that fit this mold?

I said long ago that this bench was not what it should be. But all I got is NO NO NO....The bench looks worse than last year.

The bench is actually fine. The starters are creating a bulk of problems too. Not sure why everyone wants to harp on the bench.

Re: Mickael Pietrus
If we could somehow, someway pick up both Mickael Pietrus and Delonte West.. I dont see how we would not at least make the Finals (barring injuries)... They would shore up a lot of our problems. Two players that are good defenders and 3 point shooters for their positions and would make our bench a lot better.
Pietrus is worth more than what we can offer but he has played with Dwight before and maybe he would take less for one year on a title contending team. Delonte is a nut case so I imagine not many teams are willing to take a chance on him. He has played for Brown before though (and well). It would be awesome to see something like this happen.

Re: Mickael Pietrus
I would rather us give Ebanks more burn.
Pietrus is a decent defender but he's not that good of a shooter, and is he really better than Ebanks defensively? I mean he got absolutely murdered by both Kobe and LeBron back in 2009 when he was at his athletic peak so while he's feisty he's not particularly effective. He'll be 30 in a few months as well.
Shooting-wise he's never cracked 40% from downtown and the last few seasons he's been pretty awful offensively. Ebanks has developed a nice looking jumper so we need to just roll with him going forward since he's more athletic at this point. The guy just needs consistent playing time.
West is a no-brainer and I can't figure out why he's not under contract with us yet given that we showed interest in him this past off-season.

We really need an upgrade at SF. Metta's sporadic bursts of good defense don't even come close to making up for the train wreck that is his offense. I don't see much in Ebanks either. The guy looks like a poor man's Devean George to me. With that said, I don't think Pietrus would be an improvement.

Blake played well yesterday. At least that's a partial relief.
Metta is done, people score on him at will. I'd say, let's move Kobe to SF and give more minutes to Meeks/Ebanks at the 2. Better shooting and spacing.
Or play Morris, I liked him yesterday.

Re: Mickael Pietrus
Blake did play well yesterday, but this has been a pattern during his tenure, here. He'll give you a good game after 9 or 10 absolutely substandard games. On a similar note, I really liked what I saw from Darius Morris, yesterday.
I don't want Delonte West. I don't envision him as a player that'd belong on a championship team.
And anyone who's saying the bench is fine is wrong. Our bench doesn't put up nearly enough points to assist the starters.

I know a lot of people are going to hate this decision but I would bring Fisher back as the back up pg. He stays calm and composed. He can spread the floor and can hit the big shot. He's a leader and he could help lead the second team. Everyone complains that he can't guard anyone but I don't see Blake or Morris stopping anyone. Fisher would be real big.

I agree. I'd rather have West playing instead of Blake/Morris. And Pietrus over Ebanks.

Meeks
Pietrus
Jamison
Hill
That is how it should be.

One of the main problem of our team is defense. And fisher plays no defense.

Like it or not, headcase or not --- West has a winning-style game with versatile defensive ability, can effectively slash into the paint, and shoot from mid-range and 3PT range reliably, is a better than average rebounder for a guard, and can play the point capably in stretches.
And honestly, I follow the league, and I don't see what the big deal has been about him being a headcase or a cancerous presence. Ultimately, I doubt he'd be much of a problem. Kobe wouldn't allow it, anyway.
He was key on all those Cleveland teams that just lacked a true secondary star to go with LeBron.

Well it's not possible now because West is a nutcase and Pietrus is a greedy SOB who doesn't want to sign for less.

West is no more of a nutcase now than he was in the middle of July when we expressed interest.

That's not the point though. I mean what Pietrus he's too dumb and greedy to realize that no one is going to give him the money he wants.
