2 players need 35+ minutes a game

Post#1 » by RaulLopez » Sat Nov 3, 2012 4:08 pm

I am here to say Favors and Hayward need 35+ minutes a game. They are the most talented players the Jazz have and can have the most impact on the game. Why Ty is giving them low 20s makes no sense. Favors effect the game more than anyone when he is in there. And we saw what Hayward did with 37 minutes a game last year. Locke said:
"If Hayward were playing 37 mins and producing at this years rate he would be averaging 19 pts a game 5.3 rebs and 4 ast a game"

OK, why the BLEEP is Hayward only getting bench player minutes. In 2 games he has had 25 and 23 minute games.
Favors affects the game in just a huge way defensively and he gets 17 minutes and 22 minutes.

I am sick to my stomach. I don't care how much Kanter or Burks or Millsap or Marvin or AJ play. Favors and Hayward need major minutes. They are the most talented players we have. It would be like Houston only playing Harden and Lin 25 and 23 minutes a game. Look at their minutes, I highly doubt either is below 30 and probably above 35. Have not checked but I don't see it.

You play the guys that affect the game the most. Haywards all around game and Favors defense are amazing. Ty is just begging teams to beat the Jazz when he plays them so few minutes. And don't give me, Favors does not score enough to demand 35 minutes. The Jazz have a ton of scores and Ty can always arrange it so there are always at least 3 scores out there with Favors.

Jazz won game one but I was not happy. Jazz look like crap in game 2, a game they should have won and lose. Now I am really unhappy.

I don't understand why Hayward doesn't run second unit sometimes.
It's time to jazz with Hayward and Favors!

I'll say this- I was really getting sick of seeing Lopez directly under the Jazz basket next to Big Al in the 4th waiting for rebounds. Al doesn't have the foggiest idea of how to box out and in the 4th when we could be playing Favors that tends to stand out.

Its only game 2 but I don't know what everyone one was expecting. Favors is still behind Jefferson and Millsap and Favors is still playing like a rookie (with the fouling and turnovers although he didn't do as much of it last night but had too many close calls for comfort).

Plus you were all warned that Foye should not ever play pg and will not play much pg this year so he will cut into the sg minutes deeply. But the main thing that may hurt Haywards minutes is that Ty has not forgotten about Carroll as many on the Jazz fans have.

The only player that played more than 30 minutes was Mo Williams. It's clear that Ty is conflicted (or saving legs for the back to back?). I just don't see how you create any consistency when everyone is averaging 25 minutes.

The real crime is when Tinsley and Carrol are siphoning off minutes from Hayward and Burks. I get that we don't want Foye at the point excessively, so why not try Burks more at point guard? I'm completely baffled that Corbin determined, before the first game of the season, that Burks would be "the odd man out". He's not willing to find a way around it, it's already been decided. With a player of Burks' potential there's no excuse for this. It's a joke.
