Can someone explain to me why Miller only saw garbage time minutes? Really, this guy was like a key player for us in the Finals. What's up with that bull?

I'd like to see us go with a big lineup at times too. This is the regular season not playoffs, we're not going to lose games because of Josh Harrellson, so why not put him there with Bosh at some situations? Can't be going small all the damn time you know, got to give teams different looks, got to try things out.

This and as BFRESH44 explained, New York is keen on playing an offense that works well against our defensive scheme. Thus, we need to throw new stuff out there and not run with our heads against the wall a la 2011 Finals.

This is not to take away from the piss poor effort the entire team showed tonight. You can't really point the finger at a couple of particular players, everybody was a walking trash can tonight and there's no excuse for it. They certainly showed they didn't want to be on the court tonight, that's all that's left to say about it.

After the first game there wasn't much to write about because we looked that good. After the second game I feel just the same except we looked that bad.

Some general notes so far including the preseason to give it some substance:

- Allen of the Celtics game is the out liner. Don't like when he tries to create of the dribble. This is expected
- Lewis is better then advertised. Now get that defense down.
- Haslem was hurt in preseason so he will get 10 games until his game really starts to worry me.
- Doubtful of playing Haslem and Lewis together.
- It's ok to go big sometimes. Try that Bosh-Jorts front-court, hell get Jorts out there period. I'm sure this is just to let Haslem get a chance to get up to speed.
- Is Miller on ice until the playoffs?

The Heat didn't want to play this game and that is that.

Good game last night. I did notice from reading this game thread, that some people here refused to give credit to the Knicks (some did). It was the ref, the game was fixed, the Heat didn't put effort, etc. While I agree, the Heat defense didn't look as dominant as last year in this game, y'all have to admit the Knicks PG situation now is much better than last year and so the Heat couldn't turn NY over as much and the Knicks PGs were able to find the open teammate quickly when the Heat did try to play their swarming perimeter D. Cole & Chamblers were all over NY's PG, but now NY has PGs that can handle the pressure and a coach that surprisingly ran some good offensive plays (and not just iso plays from his Atlanta years). The Knicks were running a lot of screens and curl plays, which were designed to be effective against the type of defense the Heat like to play. Also, when Stoudemire (and Shumpert) get healthy, the Knicks will have another big man in the rotation who can hit the mid-range shot and score from inside (and another defensive minded perimeter player with good offensive skills). The Heat are a great perimeter defensive team, but if they have any weaknesses, it would be interior defense and rebounding. I think they should play Joel Anthony more and play less small ball, because good rebounding (and passing) teams are going to be able exploit even an "aggressive" Heat team. Btw, Carmelo Anthony did have a lot of shot attempts, but quite a few of the misses came from his tip-ins around the rim. If he makes those on the first try, then his shooting percentage who likely been around 50% for the game, even with those awful long-distance heat-check type chucks he had. He also won't have gotten 10 boards if he would have make the basket on the first try. Anyway, good game.

This was a troll/bashing post, it's just my opinion after reading this thread. A lot of arrogance at the start of thread and a lot of blaming the Heat players and refs throughout, with a sprinkling of poster giving New York credit. Despite Vertical Limit's "the Knicks are garbage" comment and despite what other like-minded posters may think, the Knicks did improve in the off-season and even though they are older, the Knicks' old guys aren't going to log too many of minutes and the ones that do, will be put in roles where they can have success like Jason Kidd & Kurt Thomas. The Knicks are older but deeper, smarter, more experiences, and more versatile as well. They didn't even play Marcus Camby and probably wouldn't have play Rasheed Wallace if the crowd didn't start chanting his name, and that's without Amar'e Stoudemire in the rotation. Not to mention, the Knicks were missing two of their starters. I'm not saying that the Knicks do not have flaws (believe it or not I think inconsistent rebounding and outside shooting could be a problem for them this year), but I'm saying don't sleep on them. The league will find out this year, IF they stay healthy. NY's PG play will be the difference this season (no Toney "D-league" Douglas, Mike "I should be retired" Bibby, Jeremy "Turnover/Can't go left" Lin, or Baron "One-leg" Baron), and they have a few players that will be playing with chips on their shoulders after bad seasons last year (Stoudemire, Smith, Felton, etc). Earlier a few people were clowning on Felton/Kidd as NY's starting backcourt, but Felton proved that he's in much better shape/quicker this season and Kidd proved that his court vision is still top-notch and he can knock down the open 3 consistently. I'm looking forward future meetings with the Heat. Hopefully in Miami, the Heat will give "100% effort" on defense, so we can really see a good match-up.

I'm not mad because NY needed something positive for the city, and this win was it. They ran off adrenaline, just like Miami did against OKC in Game 5.

I actually believe that the Knicks are the most improved team in the East. Philly had to lose Iggy to get Bynum so it was really give and take. But the Knicks loaded up while only losing Lin.

Kidd looked as quick as ever on defense since he only has to log 15-20 minutes a night and can go all out. That Pablo Prigioni point guard is there 3rd string and can start for many lower tier teams.

Credit to the Knicks for making us pay for our lazy defense. We never got back when we made our rotations. Novak was consistently wide open, or another player was open only a pass away.

Whatever the reason was for a lack of effort, if there was, it is still unacceptable.

I was hoping it'd be a little later in the season before we had our first listless performance. Eh. It sucks that it was against those ****, but whatever.

I haven't really bothered looking through the overreactions, but experience tells me there's a nice mix of hilarity and the woefully pathetic.

Two games; twice our defense has looked like ass. That needs to get shored up quickly.
