Elephant in the room: UD looks done

As much as it hurts to say it, it really looks like UD's best days are behind him. I gave him the benefit of the doubt all of last season due to being out for so long with the foot injury the season before but he's had enough recovery time now. I have zero confidence in him to do much of anything positive when he's out there.

I know what he's done for our franchise but force feeding him minutes if he continues to be ineffective isn't a good recipe and Rashard isn't a good enoguh rebounder/defender to consistently take those PF playoff minutes next to Bosh. I'm a little worried about this.

Since we have a lot of depth, I'd say give his minutes to Harrellson and allow UD to work out. I refuse to believe that this is all Haslem is capable of, there must be something else behind this.

He missed some time in training camp with an injury, he's still rusty. let's give him another 20 games..if he cant bounce back by then, it's a bad sigh.

Sure, but if that logic were applied to Battier (for ex.), he would never sniff a minute last season. It took him up to the NBA Finals to finally contribute to this team, and he was playing over 25mpg along with being gifted the starting position w/o earning it.

Yes, but in theory, even if Battier's shot didn't come around, he was giving us good defense. Just like I wouldn't really mind if UD was giving us good rebounding even if he didn't have his shot. He's giving us neither. I'd give him more time, but I'm not optimistic at this point, it's sad.

Yeah but remember Shanes problem throughout the season was his offense, he was always putting in effort on defense even though he got burned at times. He was just flat out awesome in the Finals though.

i just hope spo wont be overly sentimental with UD. he is not a 4 in our system and he gives up too much size to play the 5. i think joel should be CB's primary back up at the 5 for 12 mins a game.

Rebounding wise, he's averaging 8rpg per 36minutes. His 2.7rpg this season is par for his 12mpg (this includes the 5 minutes he played against Denver, which hurts him because it counts as a game played).

I'm positive that if UD was hitting his jumpshot, this would be a non-issue.

This is what it's really all about. UD hits his jumpers, we're not even having this discussion.

I've always said it and i will repeat myself. UD is our worst pick n roll defender because he's way too slow footed and forces us to over rotate but Spo still has him trapping everybody. Spo's stubbornness is the reason why he still plays meaningful minutes and he isn't utilized properly either. The rebounding is an effort issue and am sure he will fix that but Spo needs to utilize him better.

Shard is regaining his shooting touch. Battier regained his shooting touch after a terrible start last year. I'm willing to give UD some time to regain his. If he can't get it right by the ASG, then I say drop him from the rotation completely. PEACE.

He's still got the heart and the effort and the leadership ability ( which shouldn't be underestimated in a team of "name" players) but his shot has gone to pot.

To get playing time he needs to get that open 16 to 18 footer to become automatic again or be able to roll to the basket and bury most of his shots. We've seen with Joel that offense IS important or at least the threat of offense. If UD isn't a threat to score when he's wide open defense for the other team becomes so much easier.

He needs to re-find the shot or become Juwan Howard.

Like all of us we Love UD and what he's done for this team and most of all the city. I'd say give him time to find is shot and regain his momentum and one thing I know, UD will be useful come playoff time!

But I do wish we can sign K Mart, I feel he can really help this team and I think he fits in really well with the system we run and our small ball.

UD might just be having a slow start. But he doesn't look like he fits with the vision of the pacing and spacing...

He had a good game 2 games ago or so. But if Rashard continues to improve, we're going to have less UD. And I quite frankly, don't mind. Lewis's 3 point shooting puts him over UD anyway.

Hopefully UD has some good moments in the playoffs like he did last year.

Kenyon Martin? Seriously? No team in the NBA is willing to sign K-Mart, the guy is practically begging for any team to interview him, but there's a lot of support from fans for the Heat to go after this guy... think about it: no team wants K-Mart, yet the best team in the NBA could really use his services.

^True, but combine his lack of offensive production with his somewhat iffy defensive performance and it's not as easy to ignore. That Haslem-Lewis frontcourt looks defensively weak to my eyeballs, but I'd like to see some numbers to back it up. PEACE.
