Yeah, I can totally see Arron Afflalo making more sense than ..

No. Howard for Afflalo has still got to be one of the dumbest trades in league history.
There's just no other way to slice it.

Maybe not for Bynum, but geez. Almost literally anything else would've been just as good or better.

IMO, Hennigan was trying to make a package to make a run at Harden himself. knowing OKC would have wanted a cheap, long term alternative to replace Harden, along with youth, he had Afflalo + Nicholson (highly scouted and touted by OKC) + Ayon/Vucevic. but, he got trumped by Houston's offer.

just IMO.

i'm so devastated we didn't land Harden. the only hope Orlando has to turn some value out of that deal now is that Harkless and Vucevic turn into Granger and Marc Gasol-like talents. (in terms of production from draft position)

if Harden continues this Jordanesque performance, Lin will greatly benefit on this since it will take a lot of heat off him. he can quietly average 12ppg/8apg with a couple of rebounds/steals while Harden goes bossing. this team is a Josh Smith short of a mid playoff position.

Actually I would say harden is the only untradeable. if you could package Asik, one of your PF's and a pick for Bynum, Cousins, or a young big on that level, then you do it. Same for Lin and an elite point guard or small forward. harden is the only elite level player on the Rockets right now. You need at least one more with good pieces around them, preferably 3 nowadays.

So why would Philly do that? Only way you get Bynum is if we get Asik, Parsons, Patterson, picks, and maybe more. Maybe Asik, Parsons, and Harden. Otherwise no.

In the 2009-11 drafts, there's only two guys out of those three drafts who I would easily take over Harden - and they're both #1 picks (Griffin and Kyrie). Rubio and Cousins, maybe, but it's hardly a given.

It's not just tanking that the complainers are advocating, it's literally praying that the lotto gods go our way and nothing more. That's just a terrible strategy, especially since even the worst team only has a 25% chance at the #1.

And Max, are you seriously insinuating Lamb will be better than Harden? That's ludicrous. Lamb is barely a top 3 SG IN THIS DRAFT. Harden is possibly a top 3 SG in the league, and is without a doubt the best young SG.

i didn't say Lamb is better than Harden
you need to understand this trade
this trade also mean Rockets is going to give Harden the max contract
most guys criticized Joe Johnson getting max being the 3rd best SG
and now you guys are happy Harden getting max being the 3rd best SG?
he may be the 3rd best SG behind Kobe and Wade but he is not top 20 players

Erick Dampier was once 2nd best center behind Shaq

The Joe Johnson max was for 6 years, $119M when he was already 29 years old. The max for Harden over 4 years is only $60M and he just turned 23.

Beyond that, Harden is very, very good and is obviously worth the new max contract. He'll be considered a top 20 player this season. He could be the best SG in the league by this season as well depending upon how things go with Kobe and Wade.

He's a dynamite offensive player with his ability to have the offense run through him while still being able to score very efficiently for himself.

Bad trade for Houston.

In an interview after the trade, Morey called Harden a top 5 offensive player in the league. You saw why given his exceptional ability to score and facilitate.

You guys raped OKC. Harden is a monster.

He's a top 15 player. One guy said Asik and some PFs... No way in hell. Maybe just Harden, Parsons, Patterson, and Motiejunas, plus some picks. We'll throw in Turner and Thad if you wanna give us Asik too.

Philly fans:

We don't want Andrew Bynum.

No, we don't want a center with glass knees. We _just_ went through a franchise center with injury history that is less prolific, but was better than Andrew Bynum will ever be, whom costs less, made us more money and was a hell of a lot more likeable.

Huh? Harden for Bynum straight up would be a bad trade for them, and you want them to include 3 solid young players in parsons, patterson and motiejunas? If Phily offered me Bynum for Harden I say no straight up today.

Wut? Harden just dropped 37 and 45. Bynum has his ass stuck to the bench. Come on now.

His 82 combined points are the most by a non-rookie in his first two games with a new team in league history. And he joins Wilt Chamberlain (106 in 1962-63, 105 in 1961-62 and 86 in 1965-55) and Michael Jordan (91 in 1986-87) on the list of the top five scoring starts through two games in league history.

Celtics fan, but wanted to offer serious congratulations to all Rockets fans for getting Harden. I am excited as a basketball fan to see him getting a chance to shine and also to see a proud franchise catch a deserved break.

I think everyone is starting to see how much Harden sublimated his game for the good of the team in OKC. I am sure he will come back down to earth a bit as teams start to gameplan more effectively for him, but I think he could well be the best SG in the league in a few years if not already.

Houston, i think you caught a break not landing either Gasol or Howard. Again sincere congrats!!

Our offense is beginning to be a bit too predictable for our opponents. We also have 23 b2b games this year which is most in NBA, so the bench needs some good minutes too especially on a b2b game and the style we play. Hopefully, McHale realizes this.
