Eric Gordon: glad we traded him?

Post#1 » by PerkinsFor3 » Fri Nov 2, 2012 12:35 pm

Even when you discard what we've gotten back and the fact that we've made the playoffs and we can be considered a legit contender for the west....

Are you glad he's not with us right now? He's been dealing with some mysterious knee injury. An injury some believe he made up in order to force his way out of town, after the Hornets matched his offer sheet from Indy.

Could/Would he have pulled the same stunt on us, if we would have kept him?

It's hard not to say yes in a not-so-messed-up way. He was happy in LA and unhappy about the trade and being "stuck" in NO. It's sad how this is turning out to be if his injury is more of a mental issue than a physical issue.

i thought it was the Suns that offered him.

and I honestly do miss the healthy EJ.
the only thing i hated was his height vs. a Kobe or a Joe Johnson....other than that, i thought he was solid as a defender.
good shooter...his handle was surely getting better as time progressed....he could have been an animal with cp3...if healthy.

no debating the injuries though...big money for chronic injuries or possibly degenerative knees.

yes the offer sheet was from phoenix. speaking of Indiana though, I was always worried he'd sign with the Pacers as he kept saying he'd consider it

I've been thinking about this too since Gordon has been hurt. The trade has definitely benefited us. I feel bad that he's hurt, but if he was healthy I thought he would have really helped our team. I can't say I'm glad we traded him, but happy things have worked out so far.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Initially, I was sad to see him go. He was my favorite player on the team and I was a huge believer in his potential. I was hoping that we could have acquired Paul and still kept him. Financially, that would have been very difficult to do, so I got over it quickly. I'd do that trade 100 times out of 100, since we have who I would consider a top 3 player in this league with CP3.

The injuries that EJ has had to deal with make the trade look even more like a no-brainer. I don't know what the hell is going on right now with him. There's a lot of confusion to if it is physical, mental or just a ploy to get out. Personally, I think the guy loves basketball too much to just sit out of games. The problem with that is the doctors not being able to find anything structurally wrong with him. That makes it seem like it could be a really serious issue as opposed to something minor. I hope that I'm wrong for thinking that and that he's on the court sooner than later, but who knows?

For us, I'm just glad that we didn't give up Bledsoe in the deal. One way or another, he's going to help this team now and in the future.

Here’s the thing though, if you want to get traded, sitting out with a mysterious knee injury plummets your value when you make as much as he now does.

He loves playing basketball, and him and his agent would both know that him playing and being viewed as healthy is most beneficial to him even just to get traded. So with that said, there's no logic to him sitting out with a made up injury.

Surgery in Eric Gordon's future?

No firm decisions have been made as New Orleans Hornets guard Eric Gordon continues to seek additional opinions on his troublesome right knee, but microfracture surgery has been presented as one of a number of potential remedies, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.

Gordon is scheduled to consult with a knee specialist this weekend as the Hornets try to pinpoint a definitive course of action -- whether that's a surgical procedure or a revamped rehabilitation program -- after their highest-paid player was shelved indefinitely this week.

The idea of microfracture surgery was broached with Gordon last season, sources told ESPN.com, but Gordon was resistant to such serious surgery heading into his free-agent summer. Gordon, 23, did end up having arthroscopic surgery -- a lesser procedure -- in February.

Concerns about the knee prompted the Hornets to let Gordon become a restricted free agent, but New Orleans ultimately decided to match the Suns' offer sheet despite Gordon's public pleas to be set free so he could join Phoenix.

Chris Broussard and Marc Stein, ESPN

This has been kind of in the back of my mind. It would be a shame if he needs microfracture surgery :nonono:

Knowing what we know now. 9gp since the start of last season. Yes I'm glad we traded him. Still miss him tho he is my fav player. But we're a much better team now and bringing in cp3 also helped us grab guys we have now on the bench. EJ wouldn't have made guys want to come to clipper land the way Chris Paul has done.

Guy is killing me. Cant believe I drafted him on my fantasy team 2 years in a row. But Im really starting to lose respect for him. I dont think he has any heart. Pouted when he got traded and now he keeps having mysterious knee injuries. Definitely doesnt want to be in NO, but you still gotta man up and be a professional.

In hindsight you wonder if they have a crystal ball or something to give him up and insist on keeping Bledsoe.

Who knew Aminu turned out to be the best out of all the pieces we traded. He''s been playing very well for the hornets so far this season.

i've had EJ's jersey after his rookie year, but lately I've been embarrassed by his attitude to wear it, even though nobody here in Oregon knows who he is.
on the other hand, my wife have 2 griffin jerseies and 1 is signed by blake. she wears it proudly to her work. which is great, since her boss is a huge clipper fan.... and married to her.
ehhhhh f it.

Undersized shooting guards have always been a problem with me, so it wasn't that hard to see him go and get a superstar pg in return.
