OT: Presidential Election

Post#1 » by thanumba2clippersfan » Tue Nov 6, 2012 8:05 pm

Just reminding everyone in the US to go out and vote today. I'm currently under the weather and haven't voted yet. I'm also have a question to the international posters here. How closely do your respective countries follow our elections? (I'm just curious to know)

I'm honestly not sure if Romney or Obama will be the winner. We will see this evening...........

I was hoping to see more participation in this thread. It's not official but projected that Barrack Obama will be re-elected as president. I hope the majority of the posters on here voted.

haha you must watch too much foxnews
our economy is set up vastly different from greece for that to happen no matter who's in the white house. the issue isn't debt, isn't bailout or no bailout, isn't immigrantion. the real issue is our lack of long term solutions in terms of infrastructure and education.
look at any economic model, and you will see that nations that depends on service jobs such as ourselves invest heavily on education to provide its employers with qualified individuals who can be competitive in job market. china now leads the world in primary and secondary education, and india leads the world in tertiary education. what do we lead in the developed western world? divorce rates and teen pregnancies. go figure.
ehhhhh f it.

Bush JR got us into this mess and even if that bigot Romney would've won  you'd still be saying the same thing.

We were screwed either way. Neither dude is a good choice. I just have slight edge to Romney for actually being from America and not a Muslim dictator ha

I think some of you are taking this way too seriously. I made this thread just to keep up with election results and for posters who wanted to say they voted or not. I was also interested in the international angle, but I guess they weren't either. I may lock this thread soon.

this thread is still open? cool. just want to express my personal concern of where this country is headed.

since WW2, the US economy has doubled its size because we invested in science and technology. but lately, science denialism has grown out of control in this country to a point where being a man of science will get you defeated in political arena, and uneducated pundits are running the show with delusional and fictitious "hoax" reports that are completely unfounded.

both parties are guilty, so don't think i am picking on one side here. i have earned my Bachelors in biology, did post-bac research in inorganic chem and got my doctorate in dental surgery. i am not saying i know everything out there to know, in fact i know that my knowledge falls waaaay short of where i would like to be. but when i talk to my patients, my staff, fellow posters in various message boards, vast majority of people who have none of the educational background i have snuffs at the following with absolutely no information or understanding to back it up.

evolution --- proven beyond belief and yet you can't run as a republican and in some cases a democrat in south if you do not deny it.

global warming ---- uneducated idiots like rush limbaugh says it's a hoax, but he can't credit one single phD to do so. MIT professor richard linzden who denied global warming has been outed by his own grad students that richard made algebra mistake in his thesis prior on his "atmospheric iris effect". richard linzden now lives a quiet life away from media in shame. only other prominent scientist to ever deny global warming had come from UC berkley, richard muller. however physics professor muller have since changed his stands 180 degrees after he supposedly set out to prove human involvement of global warming wrong with his own research, which concluded without a doubt that he, infact, was the wrong party.

vaccines causing autism ---- this is where liberals have absolutely failed big time. many dems joined in on this hysteria, with no real studies to back it up, to ban or boycott vaccinations because it caused autism. autism's cause has been now discovered to be a simple deletion of genes that make up control of neurotransmitter as well as developing certain traits of cognitive abilities. in fact there are studies on the way right now which so far have proven link between high IQ individuals with careers in engineering and other science having far more children with autism and asperger syndrome. it is however, without a doubt, not related to vaccination.

fluoridation and cancer ---- again, liberals fail to read and comprehend simple scientific datas. world wide the number of researches on this matter conclusively shows there is no link. fluorosis is a real concern although it is non lethal and happens more often from children who are raised from uncontrolled wellwater rather than dosage controlled city water systems.

i can go on and on and frankly, as we americans are arguing over politics foreign countries like china are advancing their science at lighting speed, and their parts of economy based on science and technology shows incredible growth. japanese have already surpassed us in automotive technology, and south koreans' electronics rule the day. we are increasingly becoming alot like the 18th century england, that only thing left that we can dominate in the world is simply, the military.

just my drunken rant, sorry for wasting your time as this action will not bring a single change to improve anything at all.
ehhhhh f it.
