The first headline I saw made me think he would just be limited for 3 months, but this looks like o-u-t. Not good. It's always odd that these things can't get resolved over the offseason. Is the team not proactive enough?

Over-reaction. You're still a playoff team, just a lower seed. I'd try and capitalize on the situation by trying to trade him for Eric Gordon. Knee injury for knee injury, hometown guy for hometown guy. It works all around. Frees up George as a SF, and frees up Rivers as a SG.

CT: HIbbert
PF: West
SF: George
SG: Gordon
PG: Hill

CT: Lopez
PF: Davis
SF: Granger
SG: Rivers
PG: Vasquez

Well-rounded line-ups!

These Eric Gordon for Danny Granger trade ideas are really picking up. Not to mention Gordon is an Indiana native and Granger is from Louisiana. As a Pacer fan, I like the idea.. as long as Eric Gordon is "healthier" than Granger.

Indiana would be a borderline playoff team without Danny, maybe 7th-8th seed. Granger's injury would be half the reason for that and the other half is that the East got stacked over the offseason.

Paul George seems to be playing well as an SF, he's grabbing a ton of rebounds, as he's closer to the basket on defense. But unless Green picks up his game, Indy would need a reliable scoring option.

The only hold up for me if I'm the Hornets is age, I'd want an asset to go with Granger, wither a first round pick, or a young guy like Plumlee (but not Plumlee because he sucks).

I'd love to bring Gordon in. I dont think hornets will do it though. I doubt it ever even gets discussed by the teams

Huge blow obviously.

I also think we're still a playoff team, but you need to wonder how long it will take us to fix our current chemistry issues and if Paul George can take the next leap. If he can't do it soon enough, we may be digging ourselves a massive hole. Teams that are well build can overcome injuries like this (like the Bulls), but our entire bench is new. The show must go on.

On the flip-side, it's not the end of the world. Worst case speaking, we would struggle all season. Trade David West away. I'm sure we could get a solid return. And we'd have a pretty high draft pick to package up with George, Granger, Hibbert, Hill next season.

Btw, i love Eric Gordon as much as anyone, but, i don't see him being a player for this team. He is always hurt. That's a huge risk factor when bringing in a guy like that. Not the type of fire i'd want to play with.

Later in his career, where he has a lesser role and doesn't cost nearly as much, sure.

Gordon is waaaaaay too injury prone. He has yet to prove he can play for extended periods of time without getting injured. I know it'd never happen, but I'd love to see a Granger for Tyreke Evans trade.

I don't know how much longer I can take this team w/out granger.

Also, lots of doom and gloom from Grantland's Bill Simmons and Zach Lowe as they discuss Pacers and life after Granger... http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/860 ... es-granger

Granger is someone who, while inefficient, gives us a willing shooter in any situation. West is a little limited in his operating range and mobility, and Lance Stephenson is the closest thing to it we have coming off the bench. Someone like Marcus Thornton or OJ Mayo or Jamal Crawford would offer the same thing.

Devil's advocate: If Gordon is out 4-6 weeks as currently projected, and Granger is out 3 months, at that point, they'll have pretty much averaged the exact same amount of games missed over the past 4 years. I mean, 2008-11, Granger only averaged 4 more games a year. Now, over last year and this year, they might pull even.

Gordon:
2008-09 = 78
2009-10 = 62
2010-11 = 56
2011-12 = 9
2012-13 = ?

Granger
2008-09 = 67
2009-10 = 62
2010-11 = 79
2011-12 = 62
2012-13 = ?

Damn you and your facts. My point is, I think Granger is more reliable, plus is rather hik taking the last shot in a game than Gordon. We really do need that presence to take the tough shot.
