Also Bosh put up 21.3/7.9/2.0 on 56TS per 36 with Lebron not on the floor.

They'll still have a 26/5/6 guy and a 21/8/2 guy without Lebron.

Lebron shouldn't get MVP unless the Heat get the 1st seed by a landslide.

The Heat, even without him, could get the 1st seed. Who's gonna stop them? The Celtics/Knicks? Na..both teams usually slack during the regular season.

Which is exactly what will likely happen.

Could, but wouldn't be the favourite.
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

Barring any major injuries, the Heat will likely win 65-70 games this year. I assume LeBron's numbers will be about what they usually are, if not slightly better.

Even if the raw box score stats do take a slight dip, just look at recent award winners that indicate you don't have to have the gaudiest numbers to win the award. For example:

Dirk ('06-'07)--25/9/3, 50% from the field.
Rose ('10-'11)--25/4/8, 45% from the field.

As long as the Heat finish with the best record, LeBron will win MVP.

He's never averaged 8+ rpg, what makes you think he'll average 10?

I actually think 10 is possible this year, because hes basically a full time PF now. Its very possible that he could get 2 more rpg than his previous high. I don't see 7.5 apg at all though, I think he'll be at around 6 from like last year. Either way....25, 9.5-10 and 6 apg with close to 55 percent shooting and a team that wins between 62 and 70 games would make him the MVP favourite IMO, and all of those things could happen health permitting.

Easily a contender. Wade is still the best SG in the league and before Lebron came he was the second best SG in the league (and is still top 5). Bosh before going to Miami was a top 5 PF and would probably be around 6th without Lebron. They also have Battier, Lewis, Chalmers, and Allen who are all good role players. Miami is still top 3 in the East without Lebron.

You have Rashard Lewis as your starting 4 and Bosh at the 5? On a contender? Rashard barely played for the WIZARDS last year, while shooting 38.5%. And Bosh is a soft 4. There is literally not a big on the team. Which is great when LBJ can cause worse matchups on the other side of the court but laughable when he can't.

Let's stop with the stupid "Bosh is soft" attitude. Dude is a really good defender now and shows up in big moments. Why are you acting like he's David Lee or Boozer or Amare...

How about the BIG 4 for Miami all share the MVP:

LeBron: 31.2 PER | .322 WS/48
Wade: 25.5 PER | .220 WS/48
Bosh: 26.6 PER | .244 WS/48
Allen: 21.7 PER | .241 WS/48

No team in NBA history has ever had a team with 4 players over 20 PER and .200 WS/48

I think Bosh could be a TOP 50 player when it's said and done.

Allen and bosh is not gonna sustain the same level of play.Lebron and wade,if healthy, can sustain this level.

Another thing to consider miami gets complacent at times.

It's an damn shame that Love got injured. I expected him to be putting up some solid numbers and the Timberwolves would be competiting well in the West too.

I'm not sure if I trust the Heat winning 65-70. They usually are cautious with injuries and you can count on Wade missing a few. Their loss to the Knicks was like they didn't care and were like whatever we'll let them have this.

Rondo in the top 10 now with 16 points 12.5 assists and 5 rebounds in his first 4 games. He has been a consistent bright spot for Boston and would be higher if they werent at .500 right now.

Boston is playing Rondo a whole lot of minutes though (42.3), I guess Doc doesn't really trust any of the fake backup PG's too much.

Allen? Yes, since he's shooting 59% FG and 3PT.

Bosh, maybe, it's about more touches in his spots, he isn't doing anything he isn't capable of doing right now. per 36 numbers of 23 pts/ 9.5 rebs / 1.7 assists. The steals and blocks are a little higher than what he usually does, but a change in those won't do too much. He did have 5 seasons of >22 PER before coming to Miami, so he can be a very effective and efficient player. He's had an average per of 19 as a Heat player, so if he gets more touches, it's no big deal for it to go up to 20+.

SAS also said the Nets were better than the Knicks. I know it's early and anything can happen, but SAT is a "go by the moment" type dude...Well, most media guys are honestly.

It really is as simple as 1-2-3. No other center the past three seasons has been able to post better Player Efficiency Ratings (22.3) and Regularized Adjusted Plus Minus numbers (+4.60)as the 16th-year Spur (Dwight Howard has a 25.3 PER with a +3.25 RAPM, while Kevin Garnett has a 20.3 PER with a +6.05 RAPM; nobody else is even close).
These are similar to the numbers Duncan maintained in his 20s, back when he was collecting two regular-season MVPs and three Finals MVPs while leading San Antonio to four NBA championships.

Interesting article on Duncan...

Duncan now is nearly as good as prime Duncan in extremely limited playing time.

Are the power rankings out yet for MVP? I know they make them on NBA dot com
Obviously Melo #1

but who would have thought ( outside me ) that Juice Mayo would at least be an honorable mention, top 10 candidate right now. The guy is seeing Kobe 06 like defensive treatments now. Its comical seeing a player getting face guarded every play 50 feet from the rim.

Juice Mayo has arrived.
