Rivers might not be doing great, but hornets play a lot better when he plays then not.

Waiters with 23 points from 9/13 FG, 3/5 3pt, 2/2 FT. He's now showing off his driving/finishing ability to compliment his great outside shooting so far in this young season. Cavs had Irving take the last second 3 point try, but they should've tried to set up Waiters instead. This back court is going to be entertaining as hell for years.

To add to this he had 12 in the fouth and was keeping us in it when things were falling apart. Would have loved him to take and make the last shot. Would have been entertaining considering all the crap hes gotten coming into this league.

Shved is the best rookie point guard.
And he isn't even a point guard.

Waiters is showing that ROY is more than just a two man race.

12 points and 5 assists is good, but it just seemed like he was settling for too many jumpers not really attacking tonight.
Barnes looked decent, but that flop was uncalled for
Either way good game GSW warriors fans, Hopefully we can give you guys a more competitive game next time.
You do know that he had food poisoning the night of the 7th. it's pretty remarkable that he even played.

^^ Great stuff, I'll be rooting for him. Drummond has so much potential.

Thanks for the vid. Really impressive statline for Drummond. A couple things I noticed.
Drummond really made OKC pay for ignoring him on offense. He's so huge and takes up so much space, it allows him to get good positioning for shots/rebounds.
One thing though... Is that how he usually finishes? I mean all his shots looked like these weak-ass, awkward attempts around the rim. I was surprised that a lot of the shots he took actually went in lol. He also looks a bit passive and like he doesn't play with a ton of energy, which is something I'd expect a really athletic big man to do. I wanna see him throw that **** down lol.
On the other hand, his FT form doesn't look bad and I think he'll be able to build good consistency with it.
I think once he learns to really use his body and finish strong, he'll get a lot more fouls drawn and and1s. He seems like he's perfectly capable of doing that physically.
Basically I wanna see him really beast and use his body to play more physically.

Re: The OFFICIAL Rookie impressions thread
Waiters has been really impressive so far.
I still question his longterm fit with Kyrie though... I can see why people wanted an athletic off-ball 3 with defensive potential in Barnes (who's a tremendous longterm fit), but I think the Cavs made the right choice selecting the BPA.
If anything, history has always shown you should draft BPA over fit.

I had a different impression about how he's finishing. In summer league and in preseason he threw down plenty of dunks and got up high to block shots, so he's capable of that. But tonight just illustrated that he has the touch around the basket to finish in other ways besides dunking. Unlike say Monroe who has trouble getting lift and does that soft stuff out of necessity, it seemed like Drummond was doing that by choice, just because he can.....or maybe I'm completely wrong and he's nursing an injury lol

Re: The OFFICIAL Rookie impressions thread
good lord there's a ton of fanboy chatter in this thread, especially considering the season is only 5 games old
although it's very early, it sure looks like this rookie class will be one of the best over the last dozen years or so. Lots of depth it seems

Beal with a pretty solid game. 22 points on 14 shots. He was ejected at the end of the game for an unnecessary foul on Ellis after the game was decided. IMO it didn't deserve to be upgraded to a flagrant 2..

Wow, didn't see how that in anyway deserved an ejection. They're going full speed, Beal put some body on him and Ellis happens to be rail thin. On a side not, I like seeing that from Beal. I think what really made Beal a great prospect (other than hs hype) was his physical play. People always wanna go back to how great/overrated his shot is when discussing him. I guess thats one of the negatives of being such a how profile hs player.
Also Jennings is such a b*tch. shove a guy down when his back is turned and he's bent over, hide behide the refs and pretend your being held back, then storm off while taking your jersey off to show everybody how hard your scrawny ass is.

I like what I am seeing with Waiters so far, but he does need to learn how to play off the ball. The good news for Cleveland is that Waiters does have a game that can fit that nicely. He has a decent mid-range shot and he appears to be a pretty good 3-point shooter as well.

MKG is coming on strong. Last game he had 12 pts on 5-9 shooting, 6 rbs, 2 stls, and 3 blk shots. He is already the Bobcats best def. player. His jump shot is still shaky, but boy can he get to the basket. And he seems to understand the game. Doesn't force anything. His all around game is better than any other rooks so far except for AD. I'm waiting on my Bucks top rook John Henson who got hurt early on and has seen limited action.

Re: The OFFICIAL Rookie impressions thread
Beal's one-handed slam over Dunleavy was tremendous as well. Dunleavy didnt want to foul him of course, but I'm not sure it mattered. Beal took off like a young Wade on him.
