The Adelman curse

Post#1 » by southern wolf » Sun Nov 11, 2012 3:15 am

Injuries have followed Rick wherever he has coached. McGrady and Yao in Houston and it's been non-stop since he started coaching in Minny. I don't know how serious the Bud injury is yet but it could very well be another ACL.

Does he work the players too hard in practice? Is that why so many of our players are breaking down in games? Or is it just bad luck?

It probably is, but it wouldn't be the first time over training has caused injuries in games.

So Bud went down? What happened?

I'm out of town with no tv or internet, just my phone.

He landed awkwardly and was feeling his knee. He couldn't walk and had to be helped off.

Yes, he does. Let's fire him. I hear Kurt Rambis is available.

I would guess that if he really makes his players work too hard in practice someone would have complained about it by now.

I think people need to stop ignoring Adelman's hobby of crafting voodoo dolls for each of his important players.

Really?

Yao's injury was a result of JVG riding him hard to save his job, and playing for his national team non-stop.

T-Mac's injury problems started as far back as when he was with Orlando, and it worsened during the JVG years. Just look up his minutes when he played in Orlando and under JVG.

It's obviously the Portland curse, you messed with it trying to get Roy back from the dead and this is the result.
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

I fleetingly referred to the Houston days, but I was really focussing on his time in Minny. Point taken. Obviously I should have chosen a different name for the thread title... I don't believe in voodoo. The real focus of the thread was whether or not Adelman over works the players in training, causing them to break down in games, something I've heard of before in other sports.

Well Adelman did overplay Rubio and Love last year.

Granted the team was starved of talents back then.

But this year there are really just some freak accidents. Love hurt doing knuckle push up? Budinger tearing menicus falling down? And now Pek hurt when he was only jogging down the court. These are just not the kind of situations when players usually get hurt.

Yeah, you're onto something here.

That's why Love broke his hand too. Obviously Adelman's hard practices made his bones brittle.
