Now that the Panthers officially suck, maybe Charlotte will get behind this team instead.

he was compared to gerald wallace a lot during the leadup to the draft, but i don't think he's that type of player really. wallace is an elite leaper, whereas i think MKG has lateral quicks and crazy good feet (that are sometimes too good for his shoes), but is probably an average NBA leaper. he's got such a better feel at this point in his career for how he can impact a game in multiple phases. he's going to be better than crash in time, and it may not take very long.

Average? Average NBA leap is probably like 30 inches or something. MKG's leap iis nearly 36 inches. For comparison, Wallace probably jumped 39 inches when he was an All Star for a season. He's probably more like 34 these days with the injuries. For further comparison, dwight howard has the same vertical leap as MKG. With Dwight's size that's phenomenal and obvious a bigger claim than MKG's, but it should give you some context. Derrick Brown, a previous bobcat's leaper, also jumped the same height as MKG. So yeah he's not quite as good at jumping as Wallace but he's a really close second...

A 36 inch vert is not that great its pretty avg at the combine and big men normally have low vert numbers. I think drummond only jumped maybe 33 inches.

It's not average. I know Big men don't usually jump as high. But ok.

and his vert is worse than

Austin Rivers
Harrison Barnes
Miles Plumlee
Kendall Marshall
Perry Jones
Darius Johnson Odom

I get what your trying to do but his vert is still pretty avg by NBA standards

let's not get bogged down in semantics - average is still average and is better than bad. the only point i was trying to make is that he's not the antelope that gerald wallace is, or even that jeff taylor is. despite that, he is a great defender and is switched on in a way that makes him an asset pretty much all the time he's on the court. that is pretty impressive for a rookie!

His offensive game is a lot like Dywane Wade without the jumpshot. He'll struggle to get points until he hits that shot consistently. However, he is already one of the best defensive wings in the NBA, at 19 years old and 5 games into his rookie year. He is also a much better rebounder than advertised. He can easily average 8 or 9 boards a game in his prime, which is sick.

We have a lot to be excited about, just got to keep him happy in Charlotte and surround him with equally great players.

Could you imagine if we took Thomas Robinson or Harrison Barnes? Yeesh. Cho knows what he is doing, thank god.

If average means better leaper than Dwyane Wade, Blake Griffin, and JR Smith, then I'm more than happy with it.

Random sidebar, shouldn't someone start the thread for our game against the Wizards tomorrow?
Mike Malone was never given a fair chance in Sacramento, and Ranadive will soon come to regret that, when he's on top of the WC inevitably contending somewhere

I think you should rather download it. At least that was my train of thought when I put it up on a hosting server, I didn't even know that the site offered you to watch it.
