Goat of the Game
I admit that I didn't watch most of this game as I was watching the Falcons (To tell you the truth I'm tempted to put Roddy White on this list for back pedaling on a hail marry which he would've had if he had kept running in the Falcons Saints game) I'm basing this Goat of the game off of Box Score watching.
Previous Goats:
Josh Smith (1)
Larry Drew (1)
Kyle Korver (1)
Notes: Harris is on this list for yet again being a ball hog, shooting 2-7, and 1-5 from 3; Drew is a heavyweight tonight for having NO strategic game plan, Playing Harris 25 minutes, not playing Morrow at all, and playing Jenkins for only 3 mins (despite the fact that he had 6 pts); Teague and Smith are on the list just to fill it out, Josh had 6 rebounds but 5 turnovers, he missed all of his Free Throws (again) and shot below 50% again; Teague had 4 turnovers, shot below 50%, and basically for not being aggressive enough shooting only 8 times

I feel pretty sure this loss can be blamed on Joe Johnson, al-Qaeda, Barack Obama, the Decepticons and methane gas in the atmosphere.
Seeing as none of those are options, I'll just vote for Josh Smith.

There is no way its anyone but Drew. The hottest shooter on this team this year has now not played 5 quarters in a row. He keeps starting Korver at the 2 for some odd reason, despite the guy can't guard anyone, in Zone or man to man. Devin Harris doesn't belong on the court right now, yet there he is playing nearly as many minutes as Teague.
The starting line up should be
Teague
Morrow
Smith
Horford
Zaza

Re: Goat of the Game
I believe Jenkins got his minutes near the end of the game so it wasn't like he played 3 minutes, got 6 points, then was benched the rest of the game.
This is hard for me between Harris and Drew. Drew has no idea what he is doing out there. Harris is bad...and people thought he should have started over Teague to start.
I'm going with Drew again.

My bad, like I said I was box score watching in the end; but regardless Jenkins should be getting more minutes

would not be a good line up. because you would only have one guy that can create his own offense. Teague.
Morrow has yet to show he is capable of this. he has shown that he is a great catch and shoot guy even with a hand in his face. he also has a nice pump fake and midrange game. I like him but I am not sure he should start at SG. maybe SF. what we need is another ball handler on the floor if Morrow is going to be in the starting lineup. maybe start Kyle at SF.
I don't know but you have to have at least two people that can handle the ball or someone like Nash or Chris Pual. Maybe Teague will stop deferring and totally run the offense, but until he does we need two guys that can handle the ball. if Jeff did take over the team Josh would be able to focus on what he is good at. staying on the block and scoring and defense.
we would be a much better team. so we need to get a center plus get another ball handing G/SF or get a center and force Teague to keep the damn ball and get his teammates the ball in good position.
I give the goat to Teague and/or Drew plus Horford. Horford should demand the damn ball..........

Morrow can create his own shot better than Korver can and Harris has looked bad so far this season. I think the best starting lineup is Teague, Morrow, Smith, Horford, Pachulia. Ivan needs to get more minutes also.

This is where competent offensive sets come in. Creating your own shot indicates isolation play. Which, I thought, is why we got rid of JJ.
A simple pick and roll between teague and Josh would work wonders.
And this lineup reminds me quite a bit of those old Pistinse teams that won a title a few years ago.
Teague is like a young, Chauncey Billups
Morrow is a limited shooter like Rip Hamilton
Horford the undersized post player with a defensive mentality (Ben Wallace)
Smith the all around talent at SF.
Zaza....is big and gets lots of TECHNICALS like Rasheed.
Coaching to players' strengths and divvying up consistent minutes can lead to success.
Lou, Korver and Devin provide instant office off the bench.

Creating your own shot, by dribbling yourself open, is not only way. Korver is great at running around a screen (or multiple ones) to get himself open (I like Jenkins being mentored by Korver in that respect). And both Korver and Morrow are lousy defenders but Korver is a good example of a hustler (again, something I want Jenkins to be).
However, the idea that we need only starters who can create their own shots is where I really disagree. If you have a PG who can create shots for others, you're fine. If you also have good ball movement, you're golden. Considering how Teague is showing an ability to break down defenses and the really good passing I've seen from our guys so far, I think we need all the shooters we can manage.
Our real need - on offense - is the lack of an inside threat .... and for Smith to discover who he is.

My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

I respectfully disagree with you. Teague does not have the confidence nor the Alpha dog mentality of Billups. his outside shooting isn't a threat like Billups either ( that may be due to his confidence though) the Morrow compairition to Rip is pretty good, though I feel Krover is more like Rip than Morrow. Horford does not have the heart or toughness to be a Ben Wallace.......... not even close. and Zaza and Rasheed that is just Laughable. Rasheed is one of the All time great shooting big men. would you want Zaza camping out on the three point line area? not to mention Rasheed is/was a above average passer who had post moves and could finish around the basket. Zaza can do none of the above mentioned. Smoove is the only one that maybe could have started on that team. Maybe.
and as far as "A simple pick and roll between teague and Josh would work wonders."
That would work good until the other team realized that all they would have to do is double and trap Teague when he had the ball because no one else on the team can handle the ball well enough or simply back off of Teague because he is just to reluctant to take and make open shoots.

I agree with you. now all we need is for Teague to take controll of the offense and create shots for others all the time and shoot the ball when they leave you wide open.

I have yet to see morrow create his own shot. but hey, maybe I missed the one time he did. and as far as Harris he is used to being a starter give him time. I feel he will be ok if he keep getting minutes. which I can't see why he wouldn't, he is our only other pg on this team. true point that is. I think Teague maybe a better ball player than Harris, maybe, but Harris right now is the better pg. time will tell.

Harris has shown nothing this year to prove that he is capable of starting. He constantly drives into the lane when there are 3 defenders already there and loses the ball. He has been trying to take over the game and he just doesn't have it. Will he finally get out of his funk? Probably, just like Korver will. The problem is instead of riding the hot hand (Morrow, Teague), Drew feels it is better to ride the the former has beens who aren't producing. It was the same concept with the Braves this season. Everyone thought Uggla would get out of his slump but he never did, yet he kept playing.

Morrow uses his pump fakes and his floaters at the rim just as well as anyone in the league. if you mean just getting the ball and creating off the dribble, well, Korver can't do that either.
Harris isn't a better point guard either. I still don't know what people are basing that on. You aren't seening Harris in a slump....you are seeing Devin Harris.
Devin Harris, at his BEST, played a TON of minutes, took a TON of shots and made about 40% of them.
if he scores well(number wise) he is shooting volume shots and putting up a bad percentage. His playmaking skills are decent, but no better than Teagues and his vision is pretty lacking as he has a scorers mentality without being a scorer.

Why do you keep insisting that Harris is better than Teague at PG? He is not and it is as clear as day. Teague has been playing damn well this season. His only fault is that he isn't more of a ball-hog because he is easily our most efficient offensive player. Not too mention that Teague is a better defensive player than Harris also. Drew playing Harris for so long over Teague in the Miami game cost us that game.
It would be easy to miss seeing Morrow create his own shot if you didn't watch the Miami game because that's the only game where he has received any real playing time and none of Korver's games can touch Morrow when he finally got some PT.

+11entybillion
For the life of me i cannot understand the Horford and Smith lack of posting up. Now i saw a graphic where it shows we are scoring +9 points in the paint per game this year compared to last, a lot of that is from Teagues slashing and probably Lou too.
We always knew this was a SMALL team, with shooters. When our shooting is hot, we do well, when its not, we go through these lulls where we dont score.
I really havent seen much out of Josh this season that shows promise. He seems to mope up and down court if things dont go his way (moreso that before), i still see the jump shooting that cost us the playoffs last year. I dont see any improvement. Matter of fact i see a backtrack in his offense. WHat does he want to be? Hes gotta be our big man on the block, attack the basket, drive the lane, slash, shoot at the rim. Stop shooting jumpers.

For the record:
I was kidding about Zaza being like Rasheed Wallace.
AL is better than Ben Wallace. (Who was pretty garbage his first few years in the league AND his last few years in the league.)
I've thought we needed a solid post presence on offense for years. I love AL, but that is not his game. He gets points off hustle plays, fast breaks and open jumpers when his defender doubles off of him.
I'm ready to restart my motion to move Josh to LA for Pau Gasol.
LA gets younger, we get a champion and consistent post scorer.
